something odd came to my mind. i guess i want to share to see what anyone else thinks.

the mets, known for making bad decisions might have fooled everyone. it all started with the signing of kris benson. everyone thought he was being way overpaid. yeah, he was, but look at the outcome.

the mets caused all pitcher prices to go up. their # 1 target pedro went up to the point that the sox could not afford him. the mets and yankees were probably the only teams that could. the yanks settled with pavano (obviously) and the mets and the sox were the only teams in the running for pedro.

i think the signing of benson at such a high price was to setup the singning of pedro.. i mean seriously, in a market where Russ Ortiz got 34 mill, Jaret Wright got 24, Milton might get 24 million, and Carl Pavano gettign 44 mill from the yanks. they are not really overpaying that much for pedro.

anyone else?
