Curious with the impending trade of RJ to the Yanks, I was wondering what you guys think the best starting rotation will be. I heard Gammons say his and I have to agree

1] Cubs

2] Yankees

3] Braves

He didn't say what top 4 or 5 was, but this is who I think 4 and 5 is

5] Mets

6] Angels

Boston I would say 9 or 10

After adding Clement, I say the Sox are 4 or 5 now.

Arroyo > Brown
Wakefield = Vazquez (Wakefield < Vazquez if you told me Vazquez was going to rebound with his 1st half numbers)

my mom can't pitch for shit.

Made me laugh, but it's a great point. Throw anyone in there and its still dominant.

Why are we all acting like Brown sucks? He has had a great career, one bad year may not mean shit. Hopefully he will continue to pitch bad, but I doubt it.

1. Cubs
2. Yankees
3. Braves
4. Mets
5. Angels
6. Red Sox

3.59 before

6-1 before

5.12 after

4-5 after

Lets not forget, Kevin Brown is a very dominante pitcher when healthy. Exploding sinker, 92-95 fastball. But, the Yankees are not going to keep Brown after spring training. Unless Brown makes a miraculas recovery and is owning everybody in spring training, He is gone to either the Braves or the Padres(only teams he would waive his no-trade clause to).

Again, thing about Brown, though, is neither of those teams are willing to take his salary. The Braves will need the Yankees to pay almost all of it, and the Padres will likely be close to the same story.

Uh, no.

RJ > Schilling
Mussina >= Wells (equal in postseason)
Pavano > Clement
Wright <= Arroyo (depends on health of Wright)
Brown = Wakefield (both can get lit up any day)

Cubs are flat out amazing.
Atlanta has Smoltz, Tim Hudson, and Leo Mazzone to turn anybody into an ace so teams who are stupid (Burkett- Red Sox, Wright - Yankees) can fall for their traps
Red Sox / Yankees - Talk to me when you actually have the Unit, if it's already done, why isn't A-Rod our Shortstop?

And no need to question my intelligence of the game.

I think the Mets will have a very good rotation this year, especially if Benson can finally get his shit together. They don't have a money-in-the-bank pitcher at the top, but they are solid all the way through. Having two pretty good pitchers, Zambrano and Trachsel, at the end is a luxury most teams don't have.

Show the list with Johnson, and if you still have the yanks tied with boston, you must be new to the game.

No, I don't think Curt Schilling is better than Randy Johnson. There is no sense in comparing our rotation to a rotation you don't even have yet.

PEOPLE!

most of you are letting your bias cloud the facts. the yankees have a superior pitching staff, and thats all that needs to be said. if the yankees add RJ, i have a feeling we will be going for the wild card again.

dont get your hopes up.

RJ schilling
moose wells
pavano clement
wright arroyo
brown wake

they could all ahve good games, but i just think the yankees have a more consistent rotation. throw run support in, maybe its closer

i still think yankees are better.

cubs
yankees
sox
mets
braves

mets/braves is a toss up...

the bottom line is the yankees got what they needed...PITCHING.

I don't think adding Clement to the Red Sox would push them above Atlanta. I'm sorry but the Sox rotation fell down a lot of points after Pedro left. You have health issues with Wells and Schilling. Arroyo is inconsistent, and Wake is not the pitcher he once was. I'm not being Biased just pointing out my opnion which I can argue.

BoSox Rule

Arroyo is more of a sure thing than Wright and Brown combined.

While Bosox Rule has a point (Leo Mazzone seems to get the absolute best out of pitchers), there's a big difference between John Burkett and Jaret Wright.

If I were the Yankees, I'd be concerned about him and Pavano though, because Javier Vazques is far superior to BOTH of those pitchers, and he struggled with New York last year.

On the same token, I don't think Clement is going to be a revelation for the Red Sox either.

Assuming the Yankees get Johnson and the Red Sox sign Clement:

1. Johnson vs Schilling-- advantage Yankees.
2. Mussina vs Wells -- advantage Yankees.
3. Pavano vs Clement-- pretty close considering Pavano pitched in a pitchers park, had better defense behind him, and Clement had no run support....Considering nobody knows how either is going to adjust, I say DRAW.
4. Wright vs Wakefield -- Advantage Red Sox. Wakefield's inconsistent, but Wright hasn't proven he can be consistently good, or pitch well in the AL, or handle the NY pressure.
5. Brown vs Arroyo -- Advantage Yankees. Over his career, Brown has proven he can be a very dominant pitcher. Arroyo has pitched very well for the Red Sox, but as far as pure talent and credibility is concerned-- Brown has the advantage here.

It's clear that if/when the Yankees finally get Johnson, their pitching staff will be superior to Boston's.
