Final Tally -
Orlando Cabrera signs with Angels for 4 Years, 32 Million
David Eckstain signs with Cardinals for 3 Years, 10.75 Million
Edgar Renteria signs with Red Sox for 4 Years, 40 Million

Funny the way things work out. What will be most exciting is seeing how the three shortstops do next year in comparison to each other. Renteria was the most expensive, and Eckstein was the cheapest by far. Makes you wonder why the Sox didn't just stick with Cabrera, who already established himself as a fan favorite. But in Theo we trust, I guess.

At the beginning of the offseason, I thought it would be-

Nomar too angels
Vizquel too sox(you forgot him)
Larkin too washington
Orlando too cards
Edgar too Cubs

Well that just great, give the Cards a really good short stop. Make them even fucking better. JUST WHAT I NEED.

Found this thread, kind of old, but i had this great quote:

"Eckstein, the 5-foot-7, 165-pound shortstop, had been a nice fit in Anaheim for four years, providing a spark from the leadoff spot and helping the Angels win the 2002 World Series despite having virtually no power, little defensive range and one of baseball's weakest infield throwing arms." -- the LA Times
