Let's hear it for mid-week afternoon games. Ew.

Bronson Arroyo, 3-0, 3.69 ERA.

Jason Johnson, 2-2, 4.61 ERA.

JJ walks more batters than he strikes out, which is always a good place to start. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MEN ON BASE GODDAMNIT. Manny, Millar, and Damon have torn this guy up over their careers, so I'd like to see those first two turn it around against him. Damon - keep doing whatever the hell it is you're doing, it works nicely. JJ lost his only start against us last year, giving up 3 runs (2 earned) over 5 innings.

It feels strange to say, "Thank goodness we've got Arroyo back on the mound." But there it is.

In other thoughts, wouldn't it be a beautiful thing if both the Yanks and the Rays were 11-18 after today? I'm not sure NYY fans could handle being tied for last.

By a strange stroke of good fortune, I'm home for today's game. Still, afternoon games suck.

Crazy as it sounds, this might not be a bad thing.

Bronson looks pretty dang good through 3. Anybody know why Rent got started at SS and then yanked before his first at-bat? Did he get injured or something?

Bronson looks pretty dang good through 3.

No-hitter through 5, though I'm sure I'm not supposed to mention that.

Feels pretty cool to quote myself, too.

no you just dont mention it to the pitcher, obviously everyone knows that he has a no no going. now its through 6.

they said the longest he's ever gone with a no hitter in his career was 4 1/3 innings so this is uncharted territory. The last two innings he's thrown a total of 18 pitches.

No-no through 6. Now we just need to start hitting a little ourselves.

DAMMIT! Of course, just as I turn the TV back on is when Arroyo decides to give up the first hit. A homerun no less.

Sox take the lead with an Ortiz double to score Trot. 2-1 going into the bottom of the 9th. Foulke doesn't have any room for error here.

I'll take the blame for the HR if I can also take credit for 8 IP, 3 H, 1 R :). Daaaaaaang, that was awesome.

Oh, and we won, too (thanks Papi!).

trot had a nice 4/5 day as well and was hauling ass to score the winning run on papi's hit. Broson is the man and we really need him to step it up while our pitchers are hurting. I hope this performence keeps him in the rotation when we have 6 SPs later in the season

Only the moron Yankee fans are left over here now. I'm sure once they win 2 or 3 in a row they'll come back. Yankees AND their fans SUCK!

The only problem is that the Orioles begin playing LOWELY K.C. today.

With Chien-Ming Wang on the mound for the Yankees tonight, we should have a contest for who can think of the best post-game headline. I'll start:

Wang Not 'Producing' enough for Yankees

Today's game was excellent at least on Arroyo's part. Our offense could've stepped up, but a win is a win.

To answer my own question, yes. Yes, it would.

What a great game. I was dying in January to watch a game, but had none recorded that were not playoff games. Anyway, I just finished watching my recorded (work...) game from today. It's the perfect game to have on tape!

Arroyo no-hit bid. He loses no-hitter, shutout and lead on one pitch. Pitches a gutsy 8th then Papi drives in the game winner. Beautiful day in Detroit.

A Millar HR would have been the icing on the cake. Oh well. Yanks lost again too!!!!! Weeeeeeeeeeee
