WADE MILLER YAYYYYY!
This is game two, I know, but I figured may as well get a game thread going for the return of Wade.

Wade Miller, Season Debut

Ryan Franklin, 1-4 4.74 ERA

Ryan Franklin has lost all of his last four starts:

Date Opponent Score Dec IP H R ER HR BB K W L SV IP ERA
May 2 LAA L 0-5 L 5.0 5 5 5 2 5 3 1 4 0 38.0 4.74
Apr 27 @ TEX L 2-8 L 4.1 10 7 7 1 3 2 1 3 0 33.0 4.09
Apr 21 OAK L 0-3 L 8.0 4 3 3 1 3 1 1 2 0 28.2 2.51
Apr 16 @ CHW L 1-2 L 8.0 4 2 2 2 0 3 1 1 0 20.2 2.18

This will be Wade Miller's first start since June 25th of last year. He shut down Seattle in his only career start against them, going 6 innings of 5 hit, no run baseball, striking out 4 and walking 2. A big start from Miller will kick so much ass, in short.

Nice 1, 2, 3 first inning. Looks great. That curveball that made the second strike to Beltre was a great pitch, that thing moved like a mofo. Anyway, I just noticed Bellhorn at SS...this could be interesting.

Wow... I didnt realized how hard he throws... he looked pretty good vs. 2 great hitters and an decent one.

How hard was his top fastball, and where has it been sitting at?

I think he reached 93....steady around 91

YanksHater213

Actually, I think that he hit 95 once, but for sure he hit 94

So far, 3 innings, 58 pitches, Seattle leads 2-0..

Great start, but he's running into some trouble now. Bellhorn's error was costly.

Not worried about it. If he gave up the runs because of Bellhorn's error he is doing great. I mean especially for his first start. I didn't expect him to be reaching 95 steady around 92...besides, we're known for getting back into games. Our offense will pick him back up and we will win. Seattle won't score again.

Ortiz dinger. 2-1 Seattle.

Miller is pulled for Halama after 92 pitches over 5 innings. He allowed 3 hits and 2 earned runs. Great debut for Miller... I could get used to outings like this... except longer. I didnt expect him to throw more than 90 pitches either. VERY VERY VERY GOOD SIGN FOR THE RED SOX.

Who the hell is Cla Meredith, and why did he just come in? We're going to need some runs now that Meredith has given up a grand slam. 6-2 Mariners in the 7th.

Haha, wow...opening page of Red Sox.com: Meredith 0-0, 81.00 ERA. OUCH.

Meredith is a 21 year old, sidearmer. He's new to the team, and was drafted in the 6th round last year. He was very effective in the minors.

He also only made it to the bigs in one of my sim leagues only in 2007.

Bringing Cla in was a bad move for sure. I can't belive the Mariners are beating the Sox.

I didnt see the grand slam as it happened, but when I saw the replay I said: "Fucking Byung-Hyun Kim"

Why would we bring in a Portland Sea Dog in a tie game in the seventh???

Meredith has been fantastic at Portland and he only got called up to Pawtucket last week. Certainly seems like he was rushed up. And judging from the 2 BB and the slam, he must feel like he's a million miles from the Eastern League.

He needed more than one AAA appearance, but there really wasn't much more for him to learn down there. It was just one appearance.

I have a man crush on Theo Epstein for getting us Wade Miller.

Tito said earlier today that he was hoping to use Meredith in today's game. That turned out well, right.

A sold out Fenway with the game tied in the 7th and the lead run at second is really no place for a guy pitching his first big league game.

Don't complain too much, this guy will replace Blaine Neal in the pen. Thank god for that.

On the bright side, atleast he got the experience. Unfortunately, he didn't preform well.

At least he blew it against the Mariners, and not a rival like the Orioles or Blue Jays.

And the O's lost and like everyone else in the division except the Yanks who beat the A's woopdie *uckin doo...Not too mad about tonight. Learning experience. No lost ground in the standings, no gained ground, the day never happened.

I'm off to sleep.

Despite the loss, today was a great sign of things to come from Wade. I thought he was very impressive, especially for his first start against major league players this year (mind you he didn't pitch in MLB Spring Training). Even with our supposed top 2 (Schill, Wells) out, I think we have excellent starting pitching.

Arroyo, Wakefield, Clement, and now Miller seem like they can more than handle themselves. And I'd take 6 innings 3 R from Gonzalez every time he pitches.
