7:07 tonight, oh those Canadians.

http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/124071.jpg #3 David Wells (2-4 6.75) vs.

http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/433657.jpg #49 David Bush (0-4 4.73)

Wells got bombed in his first outing back from the DL, giving up nine hits and seven runs over 1 1/3 innings against the A's. The veteran left-hander will try to rebound against his former team, the Blue Jays. Wells pitched in Toronto on April 9, giving up nine hits and six runs over 6 1/3 innings. In that one, he had the indignity of giving up three consecutive homers.

Bush went eight innings in his last start but couldn't snag his first win. The right-hander has thrown at least seven innings in four of his eight starts, and he's allowed three runs or less six times. In three May starts, Bush is 0-1 with a 4.32 ERA.

I'm really not confident in Wells after last week. Oh well, we'll see

7:07: is it because they have to sing both national anthems?.

Sox score a run in the first when Ortiz grounds into a DP...Damon in from 3rd.

I dont know whether to cheer or not when a DP plates a run.

Same. But since it was the first inning, I would cheer (if I was at the game) because we took the early lead. Still, Big Papi grounding into the play, the way he's been playing isn't the greatest thing either.

Damnit, Wells...c'mon! Your team gives you a 3-0 lead and you give it right back.

Goddamnit. Another quality start from Wells.
Let's get to the Blue Jays bullpen, cause Yankees are looking to win tonite (up 5-0 thanks to Arod) and I don't like being that close to them in the division.

It must be a very frusterating year for Wells. He struggles early and just as he starts to pitch lights out baseball, he hearts himself and now he's back where he started. So far tonight he hasn't been great, but he hasn't been aweful either. I think he will eventually make his way back to the way he had been pitching before the injury, even if it takes some time. Now lets score some runs and get him off the hook.

Ouch, that had to hurt, right off the foot. Maybe now we'll be forced to see a lot more of Youk in the coming games? Anywho, think back to the night. Aside from the fourth inning, Wells was pretty good. For fucks sake, he was on par for a win tonight! But then Timlin came in and gave up his first HR of the year...whatever.

On another note...sorry Soxy, but I'm starting to get impatient with Blowhorn...

Come on Johnny...launch a double and bring Youk home.

EDIT: Anyone notice Renteria playing better tonight?? I hope this is a good sign of things to come.

EDIT 2: Bah, bottom 9th with the game tied...we've been here in Toronto before...BLAH

When is he going to learn that 90 mph fastballs down the middle of the plate arent effective pitches?

soxie thefangirl
05-24-2005, 08:49 PM
well that sucked. the back and forth did wonders for my stress. oh and Embree? you suck. ugh. way to blow a lead, AGAIN, Sox.

Embree, Timlin. Our 2 set up men.

CalvnHobs6
05-24-2005, 08:52 PM
I think we can all admit we saw that one coming.

schillingouttheks
05-24-2005, 08:52 PM
I'll let Timlin slide because he has been awesome all year and that was the first HR given up this year for him. I'm at the end of the rope with Embree however.

EDIT: And yes Calvn, I did have a feeling about that one. I'm sorry..I'm just so pissed right now.... AHHHHHH

CalvnHobs6
05-24-2005, 08:54 PM
To make matters even better, the Yankees are tearing Detroit a new asshole right now, they've ripped 6 homers against them, but I may have lost count.

yeszir
05-24-2005, 08:55 PM
Its my fault guys. Every time I turn on the sox game something bad happens. I turn it on, bam, double play. Or homerun. Or someone gets a hit. They do better when I dont watch i tell you!

schillingouttheks
05-24-2005, 08:56 PM
Hahahah...Yanks are gunna be one game behind us after tonight. Anyone still wanna take the bet the Yanks don't pass us the way we've been playing lately? I'll say they do.

On a better note: Renteria had a great game IMO.

RedSoxRooter
05-24-2005, 09:00 PM
I bet the Yanks do not pass us even after this coming weekend.

CalvnHobs6
05-24-2005, 09:02 PM
Clemens pitched another ridiculous game today, but had to leave after 5 innings with tightness in the groin. 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 6 K.

Woulda coulda shoulda...if only the ump gave Ortiz a safe call at home. Looked safe if not a tie...

soxie thefangirl
05-24-2005, 09:16 PM
how lame. the Yankees have like 11 runs tonight.

Embree sucks.

I'll cry if the Yankees pass us after this weekend. Oh God.

and to be honest I didn't see that walk off coming. ugh.

YanksHater213
05-24-2005, 09:34 PM
How could you not have seen it coming? First off, I knew something bad was bound to happen right after that walk. Second of all, when that pitch was about halfway to the plate, I will quote myself, I said, "Oh shit." Embree is getting to be way too predictable out there...

soxie thefangirl
05-24-2005, 09:38 PM
well I saw something bad coming. but not a walkoff. grr.

Two thumbs down for this game. My blame still goes all the way back to the offseason when we picked up Wells. At the time, was there honestly not a better pickup? Take Wells out of the starting rotation and replace him with Jeremi Gonzalez.

schillingouttheks
05-25-2005, 04:20 PM
We won't need Gonzalez when Schill's healthy, and I hope we can get Wells out of rotation, as he's obviously the weakest of what we have.

Schill
Arroyo
Miller
Clement
Wake

I dunno the actual rotation but all those guys have proved they can pitch and I'm still waiting to see it from Wells.
