Let's shop Trot!

Mondesi sparks interest
According to a source close to outfielder Raul Mondesi, the Red Sox are one of approximately six teams that have made contact with him about a new contract for this season. The outfielder's contract with the Pirates was terminated earlier this week after Mondesi had to return home to the Dominican Republic to deal with a complicated and bitter contract dispute with former Red Sox Mario Guerrero, who wanted to garnish wages from Mondesi's contract.
Mondesi, 33, cleared waivers yesterday and his return to the mainland is ``imminent,'' according to the source, and he is intent on ``continuing his career.''
``Playing in Boston is a great fit from his standpoint and it's a place he'd like to play,'' said the source, who added there are other teams besides the Red Sox whose interest ``is as strong, if not stronger than Boston's.'' . . .

I'm sorry, but I can't bring myself to like Nixon.

Oh that's smart! Trade a solid, Yankee killing, hard working, 25 homer-90 RBI, potential all star kind of player for player of the same, if not worse caliber and is also a clubhouse cancer. I'd like to have Mondesi, but not if we would trade Trot after. Raul would be valuable to have on the bench and to play instead of Nixon vs. lefties. Now the clubhouse cancer thing maybe will not hapen with fellow Dominicans like Pedro, Manny, and Ortizzle around.

How about instead of shopping Nixon...we shop Crespo!!!

Seriously though, I don't think Mondesi is necessary. I think Nixon is very necessary.

If Nixon's injuries continue to set him back, under the "Win It Now" philosophy that we're obviously employing this year, I wouldn't be surprised to see Nixon traded, and maybe for Raul. I dislike Raul and love Nixon, but it wouldn't be wrose trade we've ever made.
