So, the software running this forum recently recieved a pretty major update. I'll be updating this forum to the new software in the coming days, which requires basically everything that was previously installed here to be wiped out and re-installed.

Are there any things you'd like to see added to Talksox during the update? Most of the changes will be behind the scenes type things that will make the mods' job a lot easier, but you'll notice some faster operation and new features I think. Hopefully it should go painlessly, the last thing I want to do is to wipe out talksox during the playoffs.

So,feel free to poop out any ideas that you may have.

quick links - a cool option I saw on another site

user rep points - if used correctly it helps mods because the membership polices itself to a certain point. If you add them be sure to add the auto sign feature so people can't annoymously give out red squares for no reason (just to be dick heads).

IMO when I visit the game thread forum I get occasionally annoyed by a couple of talksox members that make 3 posts per minute giving play by play for the game. Don't they know that the other people are watching the same game? I guess allowing less posts per minute or something would be better - maybe 1 post per 40 seconds and promote users to make more thoughtful posts.

I've also added something else completely stupid and useless. Every member here now has the option to create a "user page" with useless tidbits about them or whatever they want on it. To edit it go to the usercp and "create user page". To view everyone's page, click quick links > User pages to see them. I just thought that it could possibly be a cool feature to have.

Well I was watching this entertaining battle and schill wanted me to ban YH for like a minute and then YH wanted a retalitory ban, but then I had some trouble lifting the ban off of schill so he was actually banned for 5 minutes so I thought it was fair to delete 5 of YH's word association posts from like mid-June 2004 to put the post count even to account for my mistake. Then YH suddenly demanded to me to be banned after he said one last "good-bye" post which ended up being the riverside thread.

I think there should be an electronic media section to the site. A place where we can dump all the avi, mpeg, mov or whatever media file links/threads all in one place. It would save me from having to search threads for random video links and such. I put a Red Sox links page in my sig, but userpages suck asss.

I have a suggestion. To cut down on people who join, and then immediately only start posting in the Off-topic or Fights sections, how about they can't post in those areas until they have at least (pick a number) posts in baseball sections. Just a thought.

I don't think that's fair. This site is meant for more than just strictly baseball discussion which is why there is off topic and crap. The off topic section often has quality discussions and some fun as well. People who are using the offtopic section with crap like yankeessuck33 will be banned as we notice that they will have nothing to add to the forum, plus the majority of our members here aren't usually like that. Is it possible to have it as a CP enabled option? Those who actually went to real schools don't have to set it. That, or an "editor mode" option when posting so that no extra load is generated unless it is asked for.

I never used (read admin/setup) vBulliten, so I don't know if a it is possible to have something other than "everyone" or no one granularity.

So, the software running this forum recently recieved a pretty major update. I'll be updating this forum to the new software in the coming days, which requires basically everything that was previously installed here to be wiped out and re-installed.

Are there any things you'd like to see added to Talksox during the update? Most of the changes will be behind the scenes type things that will make the mods' job a lot easier, but you'll notice some faster operation and new features I think. Hopefully it should go painlessly, the last thing I want to do is to wipe out talksox during the playoffs.

So,feel free to poop out any ideas that you may have.

I think Yeszir has activated it some time ago. Go to Control Panel, then select User Profile. It should be it the first or second option.

One can only dream. I'll look around for something that adds this functionality, but I doubt it exists. I'll try to do something to make stat posting easier.

As for as the arcade goes, its an idea. If there's interest in it I could add it. Blogs are a possibility too if people would want them/maintain them.

Youtube code is risky, so I think I'm gonna nix that. Links should suffice.

And what purpose would downloads/news/talksoxpedia serve, out of curiosity? I could see the interest in a talksoxpedia, it just wouldn't be that large/informative I don't think.
