Who is your favorite sox player of all time?

WAIT, THERES A CATCH! It needs to be a player who played in a game that you watched. You can't say teddy if you were born in the '80s, obviously.

My favorite has got to be Mo (he was just mentioned in another thread). I was a huuuuuuuuuuge fan back in the day.

I agree with Mo in first with Nomar in a close second.

Being that I have been a fan since '98 because I'm 13, I'd have to say Trot Nixon has been and still is my favorite player. I see him kind of like me because he's a "dirtdog" (hence the username) and isn't afraid to get dirty like me. And not to mention he's very exciting and very clutch.

Yeah, I'd have to go with either Mo or Dwight Evans.

i agree with FourZeroSix, Pedro is my favorite. He's so funny, so different, and...o yeah i forgot...SO GOOD. even if he has a down year (which i doubt will happen) he should still be one of the top pitchers in the league, and still my favorite

Pedro did what would be impossible for basically anyone else to accomplish - He made us not necessarily forget, but move on without Roger. Looking at what Pedro has been able to accomplish in his 6 seasons he could arguably the best pitcher the Red Sox have ever had. That would make for an interesting debate in another thread. I'll tell you though.. I've looked at the numbers and what he's done in 6, compared to Rocket's 13 is staggering.

I'm going to have to go with Jason Varitek. He's been on the Sox his whole career, which is for as long as I can remember, and always been a silent leader. Posada ain't got nuthin' on Tek.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKEFIELD!!!!!

The knuckler is SO nasty, and because it puts so little strain on his arm, he could pitch forever!

20 year career anyone?

I'm gonna have to go with Nomar. A few years ago when he was in utter complete beast mode i worshipped him. I still love him, even if he can't be 99/2000 nomar.

Dewey! What an arm that guy had...

But Tek and Trot are next-generation favorites.

Favorite player no longer with the Sox has to be John Valentin. He was my boy. He played hard-nosed ball and strung together some solid seasons at SS.

Favorite player now has to be Trot. He has more passion for baseball than anyone I've ever witnessed has and can really mash.

Valentin, Nomar, Trot...but the ultimate Red Sox in my mind is Tim Wakefield, THE MAN

Johnny Damon, i'd say. great fielder, hitter and all around good baseball player.

Is this a joke? He was terrible!? I see no reason to like him other than his cheerleader like mentality.

yes, i know he sucked, but he was just an all around great guy to have in the club house. he never complained about playing time, and always lightened the mood. he will never and was never an excellent player, but he was a great, team guy

Clemens, even though I may take some shots for this one. He was unreal. And still is in my mind. One more Cy Young on the way.

I'd say my favorite is Mo, the hit dawg. I have his jersey and ive worn it for like 10 years. its all raggy but i still love it. To bad hes always injured now.

my favorite player all time has got to be Rich Garces... every time he pitched i cracked up... he would have to take a break half way from the bullpen to the pound because he was so tired.. what a funny person. Actually no, hes not my favorite player. Todd Walker is my favorite, with his great playoff performance last year.

haha and his huge range. He would dive for a ball all the time and miss it.

First of all, welcome to the site. Glad you found us.

And ignore redsox24, :P . Todd Walker was great! He wasn't THAT bad defesively, and we would not have made it half as far into the playoffs as we did without him. I liked him too. But I don't like him more than some others though.

todd walker only put up good ofensive numbers in the post season...he was basically the same, if not worse, than pokey and bellhorne are in the regular season, plus pokey and bellhorne are better defense.

Trot Nixon. When he played for the Pawtucket Red Sox he came to my school and basically talked to my class about baseball. It was awesome.

I agree. And yes yeszir he was THAT bad defensivly. I liked him cause he drove a harley, but watch some clips of him on defense, see how many times he dives for a ball and misses it.
