Wasn't sure where to put it, but that's the story. Bosox put Reese on the DL and replace him with Youk.
Not sure how Francona's gunna give Nomar the day off he wants...(Bellhorn @ short?)

It will be Bellhorn at short, Mueller at second and Youkilis at third.

Good, now we can stop this craziness about Pokey starting over Bellhorn. How can you not love a kid who grew up in Southie get his chance with the team he would've died for in the city he loves? Not to mention that he's the 2nd most productive 2B in the AL behind Sori.

It looks like it'll be short lived, as Gutierrez joins the club tomorrow. With Youk up, I expect to see more of the Mueller at second senario just so people can get playing time.
Thoughts?

Easy.
He also leads, by a lot, every other player in the AL with 106 Ks in only 338 AB - 43 of those Ks with runners on base!
But yeah, I'll forgive all those rally killing Ks because he's from Boston

I just had a thought....with Ricky Gutierrez joining the team today, someone's gotta be sent down. I imagine it's Youkilis....Too bad, I like Youkilis.

As opposed to the rally killing GIDP's (which are worse) and K's from Pokey, right?
OK, Bellhorn whiffs, big freaking deal. He's second in the AL by one walk to Frank Thomas. He has the second highest OPS of AL 2B's behind Soriano and it's very close (.010 OPS points). He has eight more homeruns than Pokey, it should be nine if Juan Gonzalez didn't misplay that ball in the RF corner. He is the second most productive 2B in the AL and 6th best overall behind Soriano, Kent, Vidro, Loretta and *gulp* Walker. Any time you can get a 2B to hit 30 doubles, 20 homers and walk 100 times (and for $500,000) you take it.
Being from Southie is a huge plus for me, though. :D

I agree that Bellhorn has done FAR more than expected, and his contributions to the team shouldn't be taken lightly. He's played 3 different positions (has offered to play a fourth), has hit for decent power for a second baseman, played solid defense (not Pokey-esque, but decent) all while playing the game hard and not causing any trouble (which is more than you can say for MOST Red Sox this year).
Bellhorn strikes out a lot, but he also has given the Red Sox more than they could have hoped for.

Absolutely...Bellhorn is one of those "low risk-high reward" type players. He looked absolutely awful last year for the Cubs and Rockies, even though he blasted 28 HRs in 2002 for the Cubs. Theo must have seen something in him that no one else saw (I, for one, was critical of the pickup in the offseason) and took a gamble that, IMO, has paid off pretty nicely.

Well it's not Youk since he is playing oh yeah I forgive all the K's with all the walks he's an OBP machine and he sometimes gets clutch hits and Theo did see something no one else saw discipline at the plate it's odd even thoough he K's they all seem to be looking anyone else notice that good control.

blowhorn is an OBP machine because he WALKS, meaning he DOESNT SWING, and he gets caught up way too much.
