Scouting Report: Fastball sits in the low 90s with good sinking movement, can reach 95 mph occasionally. Clay also is improving his secondary pitches, including a slider, changeup, and a curveball. Slider has a lot of movement, almost a slurve. Needs to work on command a bit. Very raw, as he spent most of his high school career as an outfielder. Wiry frame with a smooth delivery which has been compared to Tim Hudson's. Great all around athlete, who also was the best hitter on his high school team. Excellent work ethic and desire to learn. Tough competitor.

Drafted in the first round sup. and #43 overall out of High School in last years draft. Made his pro debut last night for short season Lowell Spinners: 5.0 IP, 5 hits, 1 ER, 2 BB/1 K

Pretty nice debut for the kid, should be interesting to follow him.

According to what I heard Clay fastball was bit down in his profesional debut, it was high 80's just touching 90.

that sucks. This late in the season most likely means he'll miss a good chunk of next season as well.
