Sox eyeing Salomon Torres:

Torres' suitors shop Pena

The Boston Red Sox, the team seen as most interested in reliever Salomon Torres, is actively shopping enigmatic outfielder Wily Mo Pena.

Pena has exceptional power, with 66 career home runs at age 25, but is batting .202 and has struck out 12 times in his past 17 at-bats. He is making $1.8 million.

I'm not really in the camp of those who believe we need another reliever but fuck man, if we do, we might as well get a GOOD reliever

Though it should be noted that according to the Pittsburg Tribune the Red Sox interest in Torres has cooled and they are more interested in Marte

The new rumor is Sox are eyeing Oaklands Kielty(not sure on the spelling). If they can get him, there saying WMP might be on his way to CWS. But for who? I have no clue.

There is no reason to acquire Torres. This season he bitched at the Pirates for being removed from the closer's role even though he had a 6.00 ERA... while in Boston he would be doing crap innings

Tho keep in mind this is the same team that inquired about Troy Glaus when the Blue Jays were scouting Jack Wilson

I saw that rumor yesterday too, WMP to CWS, bring in Kielty. I do not know much about Kielty, but he does not seem to far off from WMP, and who comes back from CWS. Any truth to this?

Because they have a history of getting good young players from us for garbage like the Sauerbeck and Suppan deals for Brandon Lyon and Freddie Sanchez and Mike Gonzalez (who would look better than Lopez right now, granted Lopez's success.)

WMP had success in the NL, they probably feel its worth the rosk considering his age, much like we did when we dealt Bronson.....he may suck ass, but his potential is incredible.

If WMP goes somewhere else and hits 50 HR so be it, he will never do it here.
