The division is most likely out of reach at this point. WC here we come!

You never know. If we sweep the Yankees, then we close to within 1.5 of them. They then play a very tough team in Minnesota while we play Tampa, who we usually handle in Tampa Bay, but if we lose 1 game against the Yankees I agree the division is out of reach.

The most important thing to watch tonight is how Pedro pitches. He gets up for these games and I think he feels he has something to prove. If he pitches great tonight, which I think he will, then I think we all feel better about heading into the playoffs.

According to Remy, Pedro threw a side session on Wednesday - something I don't think he normally does.. Hopefully he'll start off with a little more velocity than last time.

I remember that he did this earlier in the season, and it seemed to really help out. I can't remember which game, or what the outcome was, but I think it was good....

Hey look at that, once again Steinbrenner's umpires screw the Sox. If we lose by one I will be bullshit.

But before that, remember what Nixon did....

Considering how the 6th started, I'll take a tie game.

Nixon made an amazing catch that saved several runs cause they didn't think the ball was going to be caught.

Great Catch, and 4-3 on a Damon HR, End of 7.

4-3 Sox on a Johnny Damon HR.

This is the point where we should have our Set Up man getting warm in the pen?

Martinez has thrown over 100 pitches, that is his danger zone. Plus, we have Foulke to deal with later on. ;)

Called it. 4-4 on a Hideki Matsui HR

Why all this conserve the bullpen nonsense? I really don't understand why Pedro starts the 8th there.

Double by Bernie, Pedro still in.

God, I've seen this before.

Yankees score on a Rueben Sierra Double. 5-4 Yankees.

Holy crap is that Grady Little in the dugout?

RedSoxRooter

I was totally surprised Pedro came out for the 8th. Question: If you save your bullpen for the Yankees series (by losing a game), why not use it? Francona needs to get his head out of his ass. Grady part 2.

The announcers keep saying that if you leave Pedro in or if you take him out it has pretty much the same result for the manager.

However, I disagree. If they take Pedro out and they bring in a reliever and the reliever blows it, I blame the reliever, not the manager. I dunno, I just think that from what I've seen with Francona here tonight, we could be doomed in the post-season again. Let's hope this is a lesson learned.

Matsui Doubles off the wall...

6-4 Yankees :(

bottom line is you try and line up ur pitchjer for a win...after 7 solid innings and you are winning I do not take him out and give him the chance for a ND or loss. Notable fuckups by francona with not knowing how to use the pitchers

1. tonight
2. last night
3. derek lowe blister problems
4. derek lowe head problems
5. derek lowe pussy problems
6. schilling vs. toronto, losing on a Grand Slam
7. Not having a short leash with Arroyo in the beginning of the season, and let him get beat up
8. Wakefield stinking up the joint almost the entire season
9. mike meyers vs any RH hitter.
10. im sure there iis more

East is now out of reach for sure, we'll get the WC and get in, thats all we need.

Game over Yankees win 6-4

Varitek is all about the intagibles, he has hurt us against the Yankees. Maybe it's a good thing that he will not be playing tomorrow.

Who seriously thought we'd be able to beat the yankees with 10 games left? Better to make it absolutely clear that its not happening now than to have the team break our hearts later.

I know we are going to the playoffs...but we have about 0 momentum going in. Last year, we had all the momentum in the world going into the playoffs....im very nervous and not confident if we had to face the yankees in the playoffs...and the twins are no pushover.

stocker323
09-25-2004, 02:58 PM
I don't think momentum really has anything to do with it, last year we lost the first 2 games against Oakland and we had 0 momentum whatsoever and then we pull off 3 games with no momentum.

Bren25x
09-25-2004, 06:04 PM
yeah but we won a bunch of wild games down the stretch..we were very hot going into the post season...and eventho the firs ttwo games were lost vs oakland...we played on unbelievable adrenaline...momentum does carry over.
