The idea behind the breaking pitch has always been the same....make it look enticing enough to swing but make it finish outside the strike zone. Does not matter which pitcher you want to talk about other than Greg Maddox, the idea IS NOT to throw it for a called strike. As a result if the hitters are not swinging, the pitcher can look pretty foolish. Then again, if the hitter swings at that crap, we see lots of Bugs Bunny swing and miss, weak shit dribbling around the infield and blops.
