Lets see if the return is as big as harmony hoped it would be, and if the Sox has enough to match it.
Sox 4 Ever
Then is a good prospect, albeit far from the bigs and was initially signed by the M’s. This reeks of keep-away, to be totally honest. We don’t need him. His $3.4 mil cap hit it a nothing. But if the Rays or Astros got him, that would have hurt more
In the words of late Yankee fan Pinstripezac, "Them backs are tricky things."
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1
The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.
Even if that’s the case, the Mariners would still have been smarter to hold out to see what Houston, Tampa, Milwaukee, whoever would have given up for Edwin.
Either interest in Encarnacion was vastly overstated (which can change with one injury), or the Mariners are impatient and stupid.
Or both...
The Yankees are collapsing right in front of Cashman's eyes and so he makes this deal out of desperation.....
The fact that no one wanted Encarnacion, allowing the Yankees to acquire him rather cheaply, should send a message to JD Martinez regarding his opt out decision. These DH types who can't play defense aren't highly valued anymore. Martinez would be a fool to opt out.
The price went down due to money and positional limitations. I’m still a bit baffled as to the need. My one conspiracy here is that the Yanks got EE with the mindset of moving Frazier for pitching so they could have depth in the lineup
Wanna see something sick??
Lineup once everyone returns
1. Lemahieu 3B
2. Judge RF
3. Gregorius SS
4. Stanton LF
5. Sánchez C
6. Voit 1B
7. Encarnacion DH
8. Torres 2B
9. Hicks CF
Urshela and Gardner ready whenever
What a sick lineup, wow
They could have moved Frazier anyway. Not like EE plays his position, and with the possibility of Dtanton and Judge returning soon, it1) an odd time to get EE and 2) likely Frazier was looking at a demotion anyway.
The notion the Yankees only acquired him to keep him out of Boston, Houston and Tampa is silly. First of all, you can’t go out acquiring every player that l will help your rivals; they’re too many options. And second, don’t you think Seattle pushed him on the teams with obvious needs? DiPoto has heard of the Astros. He might have even worked for them once. He called. They hung up...
Frazier is staring at a demotion. Not because he should be, just that he’s squeezed out with our current squad. He’s been awesome offensively
