Lots of "ifs" in that game.

That game was almost as heart-breaking as the '75 WS or the '86 loss, although I was older in '86 and was kind of expecting a loss, to some extent.
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

The 6th game of the '86 WS was reminiscent of what we've seen so much this season. A reliever(C. Schiraldi) who easily got the 1st two outs, but couldn't get the 3rd out. In fact, I've posted a couple of times on the GT that if innings were comprised of 2 outs instead of 3, the SOX would have the best BP in MLB.

For me the '78 playoff loss was the most heart-breaking of them all. That was my favorite Red Sox team ever.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

I was 16 in '75, and I think more emotional than in '78. They both stung like hell.

The whole ending to the '78 season that led up to that game made it way more meaningful than a 7 game series in '75, so I think I feel the same way.

'86 hurt, too, but not like '75 and '78.

How about the most wonderful moment in the last 50 years of Red Sox history that did not lead to a ring?

    1. The Dave Henderson HR v the Angels
    2. The 1972 season where we finished 1/2 game behind detroit due to a strike induced unbalanced schedule
    3. The Fisk HR
    4. The Dave henderson HR in the top of the 10th inning of game 6 v the Mets to put the Sox up

    How could I forget!

    Top 3, maybe.

Also, pedro's no hits in 6 IP of relief vs the great Indian's offense. (They had scored 8 runs in the first 3 innings.

    Yes, that was a thriller.

Game 6 of the '75 WS had 3 awesome moments:

    1) Carbo's 3-run homer after swinging like a rusty gate on the previous pitch.
    2) Evans' web gem catch of Morgan's long shot to right resulting in a double play.
    3) And, of course, Fisk's game winning HR that hit the foul pole.

Pedro's fast ball never topped 90mph in that game. He just outsmarted them. Btw, don't forget Troy O'Leary had one of the greatest offensive PO's games in that same game with 2 HR's and 7 RBI.

One has to wonder how that '75 WS would have ended if Rice hadn't been injured near the end of that '75 regular season.

How about J.D. Drew's grand slam in 2007 against Cleveland? Probably saved that series. Sox had almost blown a bases loaded no outs situation.

Sox would have won in 6. They got cheated in one of those games also.

From 1946 thru 1986 the SOX were in 4 WS. All 4 of those WS went 7 games.
In '46 Wiliams played with an injured arm; in '67 Lonborg pitched with insufficient rest; in '75 Rice didn't play; and in '86 the SOX simply blew game 6.
