    2002-2008:
    Player A: 2.0 UZR, 35.2 RAR, 3.5 WAR
    Player B: 13.2 UZR, 45 RAR, 4.4 WAR

Which is Beltre and which is Lowell?

I didn't like the deal at first b/c I thought Lowell was still a great hitter and a good handed defender with eh range. But after seeing Lowell look old and feeble in the field and at the plate during the Spring, I realized that signing Beltre was the right move. Cleared up now chief?

    Bonser shelled in second start

Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff April 13, 2010 10:21 PM

Boof Bonser's return to the majors took a wrong turn tonight.

The righthander lasted only two innings for Triple-A Pawtucket, giving up nine runs (all earned) on five hits, three walks and a hit batter. He threw only 22 of his 47 pitches for strikes as the PawSox were beaten 12-0 by Lehigh Valley.

Bonser has put 16 batters on base in 6.1 innings this season. It seems safe to say his rehab assignment will not be ending any time soon.

Ostensibly, Bonser is on the disabled list with a groin strain. In reality, he is still coming back from shoulder surgery done 13 months ago and told reporters tonight that his shoulder "seized up" on him. Control issues are not uncommon for pitchers returning from surgery.

He's going to be this season's John Smoltz. We will get nothing out of him. Another piece of garbage picked from the dumpster. They should stop wasting their time on these types of acquisitions.

Too bad. Maybe it's time to look for another long reliever.

He was a waiver-wire pickup. He's not making $5 million, and they only projected him as the last arm on the BP.

Yes, the sports equivalent of a junk bond.

    Good lord.

Boof Bonser had one bad start and suddenly he's the next in the line of bad acquisitions by the FO? He makes $650k, for crying out loud. Oh yeah, and his bad start was in AAA.

He's a long reliever. All i'm sayin'. This team is not hamstrung because they kicked his ass at AAA.

No, he had surgery last year, so it is extremely doubtful that he will contribute anything this season. It's a waste of everyone's time except Bonser's, who get $650 k to rehab. Sweet deal.

    Do you really care? Really?

It's. Boof. Bonser. A AAA start. Let's not turn this into a story.
