    1. Cito Culver- Did not like the pick initially due to the players already on the list, although I have come to understand it now that the draft is complete. He's a skinny kid with good speed, a great arm, plays very strong defense and has shown good things with the stick. Apparently, the Yankees saw him bat over 200 times in the past yr. So while the media outlets were reporting other players linked to NY, Oppenheimer had his eyes on this kid. DO is sure he can stick as a SS, which brings up his value, and was informed prior to day 2, that he wasnt going to last to their second selection. Overall, very athletic kid with a slick glove and promise with the bat. He sounds like a solid backup at worst due to his glove, with the ceiling of being an above average starting SS. But his bat will dictate how fast he progresses.

It's like JR Murphy last year, he came out of nowhere. But made good impressions right before the draft.

Sounds like they were eyeing him the whole yr. My guess is they had him pegged early on, but when he emerged onto the national scene, they had to take him in the first. Regardless, the Yankees went with a ton of college guys last yr and are pretty loaded everywhere except CF and SS in the minors, meaning they could afford to go young and could afford to go with athletes, knowing that not all of them would make it. But those that would could either make SS or be moved to CF and make a seamless transition

    2. Angelo Gumbs- Another HS infielder who is athletic. Runs a 4.2 up the first base line as a right handed hitter. Has very good hands, quick reflexes, plus range on the defensive side of the ball. Looks to be a burner on the basepaths as well. Offensively, his swing is a little long, but he looks like someone who can develop some power as he grows into his body. Recent growth spurt put him at 6'1" as well. The kid wants to play CF actually, but it sounds like he and Culver will start off as MIFs and move from there if they cannot handle it.
