    Re: NHL 10-11 Thread

So, looks like our starting goaltender is healthy again. Not good news for the young upstart who was so hot last year. Frankly both goaltenders fully deserve to be the starter as both were top-15 goaltenders last year and the one who struggled more then is the one on a tear now, so it's going to be interesting to watch how Claude balances their time. Most likely the situation will be resolved through either injury or trade.

Rask almost definitely starts the next game. It's tough to sit a guy running as hot as Thomas but Rask needs to get in there and start a hot streak of his own which he is undeniably capable of.

I am incredibly excited to see the way this tandem is playing together right now, we're going to be an even tougher team to score on now that Thomas is healthy again. Even if there are things you'd rather spend Thomas' cap space on, we're getting the best goaltending for the money in the entire NHL. And if you had to overload at one position in hopes of a deep playoff run, the best choice is probably goaltender. Look how well the Habs did with a really rather bad team and a nice toaltending tandem, got them to the conference finals, we'll have that working in our favor this year. Exciting.
If history tells us anything, the path to redeption for any bad baseball team is marked with a deep rotation of durable starters, a world class defense in both infield and outfield, a lineup that can generate runs in more than one way, a bullpen that won't steal defeat from the jaws of victory, and a top end catcher to hold the whole package together. These are the conditions by which victory is achieved, anything that does not accomplish these objectives is a waste of resources.

Lol @ you calling Timmy "our starting goaltender" and Rask a "young upstart".

That being said, I'm enjoying watching Timmeh play so well. Hope it continues. Bet Rask gets the call tonight.

Tim isn't the starter yet, but I love to see him playing well. The better he plays, the better his shitty contract gets.

Disagree. He's got NTC, nothing involving an NTC and an over-35 contract is "easy." There's far bigger wastes of cap space on this roster anyway than a guy who's been a solid to great #1 tender each of the last 4 years.

Rask will earn the starting job from Timmy eventually (Timmy was hurt last year, that hardly counts as beating TT) and he will be a better tender for having had to beat him out. I for one am darn glad that we aren't giving Tuukka the silver spoon treatment. He's too talented to go the way of Hannu, but a rough adjustment to big league play was not impossible and either way it starts Tuukka off on the kind of note we'd like to see him carry on with -- you value something and work harder to keep it if you've had to fight to earn it.

    Yeah, Horton is a beast.

Would it kill Wheeler to hit the friggin' net once in a while?

As much as it pains me to say it, Ryder is playing fucking unbelievably. Finally shooting the puck at the net, taking the body, and overall just not playing like a pussy.

Horton is the real deal. So far its looking like him being a "bust" was just a result of those horrendous Panthers teams.

And what can I say about Thomas so far? If he keeps playing like this, keep Tuukka on the pine.

Absolutely retarded play by Thomas. Why?

Oh well, he's been nasty all night, can't get too mad.
