We should have rested players against the Mariners.

They've protected Reddick's trade value all season, why stop now so soon before the deadline?

You really think they're protecting Reddick against Bruce Chen? He has a career 1.65 WHIP and .280 BAA against lefties and hasn't had a WHIP below 1.50 against lefties since 2004.

I'm not too upset about that one. He sucks against lefties and he could use a day off.

A good hitter can have a bad night against a bad pitcher. Why ruin his .370 average when other teams are considering Reddick?

Reddick should not be getting the day off and neither should Crawford! He's recently back from the DL and needs to be getting back into the swing of things, trying to build some momentum and confidence again. Just cause he has a poor history vs. lefties does not warrant a day off -- everyone said Reddick sucked vs lefties, too...

Again: Francona should be required to give talks about his decisions before and after games.

    Re: 7/27 vs. Kansas City

Quick note on the lineup change (that inserted Kevin Youkilis, moved Yamaico Navarro to the outfield, and took Josh Reddick out):

"[Youkilis] came in and he said, 'There's really no reason for me not to play, I feel good,' " Francona said. "We weren't planning on playing him, but when he said it was fine, all it does is take an eraser.

"Red's done great, but we kind of liked the idea of seeing Navarro out there, especially against a lefty."

Said Reddick: "Just a day off, I guess."
