    Schill's video company in trouble

Schill got over $70 mil from the state of RI last year to move his company to that state from MA. I guess he did have one game introduced......but..... he was unable to make a payment to the state this month. After a meeting yesterday In RI ( in which Schill had nothing to say to the press---surprise there) there was an agreement to hand deliver a check today.
Breaking new just now on a Providencer station, the financial officer called and told the state there was insufficent funds to cover the check....and that they could not meet their payroll this week.

Remember that 7 or 8 mil Schill took from the RS and he never pitched once. That was one of Theo's blunders as the insurance company wouldn't cover Schill...so the RS ate that money. Looks like the RI taxpayers are going to eat an even bigger one from Schill.

Schill earned the Red Sox money-- two championships in 4 years. He was worth every penny. We've won nothing since he left and we can't even make the playoffs in recent years.

As for Rhode Island, fuck them and their stupid politicians. They made a very high risk business deal and it flopped. It happens. It's not like Schilling pocketed the money. He lost a good deal of his own money.

Yea, he's a fine man of great integrity....and fuck the 400+ plus people who aren't getting a paycheck this week. Maybe they would like a picture of Curt in his RS uniform in place of a few Benjamins for rent or mortgage....or maybe a shot of the Bloody Sock.....that would buy the kid some food

The jobs didn't exist before Curt's enterprise. He created the jobs. It's not like he came into this venture and fired 400 people. He created 400 jobs. The venture failed. They lost the jobs that they didn't have before the venture. They are back where they started. Schill is out several million dollars.

My god, you know so much....did people leave existing jobs because they got sucked in by the fact that he "won two championships in 4 years" cuz you know, some people are really impressed by that kind of stuff and totally judge people just on that....well fuck them for being stupid.

I have no idea how much, if any, Schill put in of his own money. A lot of them don't use their own cash because people are so impressed with, you know, " two championships in 4 years". You apparently do know since you mentioned twice that the poor guy is out millions.

Yes, it's been reported that he invest a substantial portion of his own funds.

Oh, and Fuck of with your attitude.

It was originally reported that he put somewhere between $35-39mm of his own money into the company.

But then an audit showed that he only put in $4mm of his own money and was promptly repaid by monies received from the State of Rhode Island from their economic development fund.

It wasn't a phony deal or anything. Without the loan, he had his own money at risk.

Whoever thought Curt would become a super-capitalist. He made a ton of money pitching--now he wants to make more. Imagine, getting a $70 mil "socialist" handout from the taxpayers in RI. LOL

He should be given Rhode Island as payment for the two world championships. It's a small state, barely befitting his his accomplishments.

Re: Schill's video company in trouble

I did wonder about this 38 studios venture. Seemed to me that the world needed another video game company like it needed a hole in the head.

From what I understand regardless of this "all star" team Schill brags about having created at 38 Studios, they just can't get the bugs worked out of the first game so they can release it.

The software business (which is really at the heart of it what his business is) is very risky. Usually it is one of those lose money on some releases and make it all back on one big monster winner kind of business. Schill's company has all of its eggs in this one basket which is totally weird for that kind of business enterprise.

He can have Connecticut. I doubt he could make it worse.
