Have seen MANY inmates who've abused kids and women who got some "special" treatment on arrival. It is real, it does happen

I wasn't calling you a liar, I just had never heard that myself. I will (and have) call you many, many horrible things, but never a liar.

Speaking of inmates and violence, such a shame a gate was accidentally left open, allowing an inmate to give James Holmes a beating.
    Priorities:
    1. Yankees lose
    2. Red Sox win

I fully trust the peninteary system, and wholeheartedly believe it was just a freak accident. Such a shame indeed.
    We miss you Mike.

DV is not just with a wife or GF though. Read the definitions in the codes. Maybe it's just due to I see DV cases 2 times a day and i'm jaded by the system but that and OVI are both extremely high rated crimes that should not be happening but they do and very frequently. You can't gauge statistics on those since those are the most serious crimes that go unreported, but I do know it's very high.

Have you ever had a roommate in college or had a brothe or sister who pissed you off? Say they ate your food or told your mom you stayed out late and said I'm going to kill you, you little ****! That's domestic violence. It's just section C instead of section B. Although any co-inhabitant, blood relative, relative though consanguinity, or even someone you crash at their house for the night if your family kicks you out of the house. If you bring your clothes, and other personal belongs there you've established residency at that location, even though it's just for a short time.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, and I want to commit real domestic violence against you right now.

DV is not a laughing matter. Trying to justify someone's terrible behavior just because he's a professional athlete and plays for your favorite team is one of the lowest things you can do, and it's a big part of the reason why these overpaid jerks think they can get away with everything.
    We miss you Mike.

That is really stretching the definition of domestic violence. I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that most of what you are describing is not considered domestic violence. My understanding is that the charge of domestic violence is something reserved for abuse by one person onto an intimate partner.

I know this is a terrible thing to say, but this entire discussion is really making me miss Ami more than usual. Does that make me a bad person? (Or is it just all of the other stuff about me that makes me a bad person?)

And Kimmi, domestic violence is not limited to intimate partners, it is used as a term for violence against basically any family member living, and in some cases visiting, in the same house and over 18 (under 18 is child abuse). If you beat your 20-year-old kid who lives with you, thats domestic violence in most states. Some places it doesn't even have to be at your home, it just has to be someone who's related to you. I asked my mother, who is a police officer as I've mentioned before, and she said, in essence, "it's a clusterfuck". Every state is different. In some places, the charges could vary simply from town to town, based on how that department chooses to enforce or view things.

However, none of that is the point. The point is, firing a handgun while yelling at your wife/girlfriend is far beyond domestic violence, it's something that you usually read about happening months or years before a murder-suicide. Or just a murder. People who do things like that do not just stop, they escalate. I hope that doesn't happen , because if Chapmans wife or girlfriend ends up in the hospital in two or three or ten years with a gunshot wound or a caved-in face, It's going to be the most depressing "I told you so" since I warned my friend in high school not to date my ex-girlfriend.

You will probably always miss Ami, and that has nothing to do with this discussion.

I meant it more as a slightly off-color joke about violence, but you have a point.

I think what we can all take away from this discussion is that with each day, there comes an entirely new reason to hate the goddamn New York Yankees.

The one thing I usually do when my wife and I argue is choke her then empty a clip in my basement wall. I don't know about you, but that is a really good stress reliever.

Meh, this isn't a petty squabble or even a lovers quarrel. This was a guy with violence and anger who couldn't direct it appropriately
