    Taken before Trey Ball:

Mark Appel (1st), Kohl Stewart (in AAA, may make MLB someday)

    Taken before Groome:

Mickey Moniak (1st - once ranked 17th best prospect, now well out of top 100 and sliding), Riley Pint (not doing much), Braxton Garrett (also injured)

I would be surprised if Groome doesn't make it to the major leagues. If he doesn't make it, it'll be due to injury issues, not talent.

Groome already has a major league caliber curveball. Once he improves fastball command, he will have two pitches that will get him to the major leagues. To be sure, his development time will take longer due to TJ, but if he returns healthy and can stay healthy, he will be in the major leagues.

Assuming he maintains his health, the big question surrounding Groome concerns his changeup. How good will that pitch be? If he doesn't develop a plus changeup, he profiles more as a bottom of the rotation starter or relief arm. If he can develop the changeup into a plus pitch, he could become a top starter in the major leagues.

With that said, Groome does have the look of a guy who may never maintain his health.

Agreed, which is why a high draft pick for me is not the slightest consolation for finishing last.

I guess nobody saw this. Tell me there isn't some talent in the Lower Levels. No-hitters aren't mentioned. Almost perfect game.

This scares me about Dombrowski, we have squat in the Double AA or above, even Ockimey is borderline. He has a .250 career BA in the Minors. But some smart GM's might go to the Lower Levels to find the Talent that is left for the Sox.
Toronto did this with Espinal, and the Pearce Trade. Again, love the Trade, hated Prospect we gave up.
After 2019 when Bogaerts becomes a Free Agent, we have very little talent at the SS position, and with Boras knowing this he'll command big bucks. And get it. No matter what his stats are.
Renda what is he 27 years old?
Espinal was promoted to Double AA.

Big problem with the Sox, is they don't promote the kids quicker, so they are facing tougher competition. Push them. At this time of year in the Minors, you should have evaluated enough, to see if they could go to next level. Minor Leaguers that stay in the same level throughout the year, tells me they are only good or bad to that Competition.

When kids jump leagues, and obviously they learn new league might struggle a bit, but if the talent is there they will improve. That's important. Steady progress against tougher Competition, not the same, best way to see if you might have something in a kid. That's why I would like to see Ockimey promoted, see if the kid is Special. Bunch of other kids should have been promoted by now.

    Xander debut at 20
    Betts at 21
    Benintendi 21
    Devers 20
    EdRod 22

That's very aggressive promotions to the big league.

Ty Buttrey is overdue. I wonder what are they waiting on?

Denyi Reyes should have been promoted by now. Probably best Pitcher in Single A South Atlantic League.

    Maybe Crawford too.

A corresponding bullpen injury. I think the Sox are rightfully skeptic about how well his stuff will play in the majors. He'll get a shot at some point. Not sure they need to force him on the roster. It's not like he has Feltman's upside.
