Ha. Sanchez is not even the best catcher on his team.

I mean sanchez iss definitely their best catcher, a random hot streak by Austin romine who has been trash his whole career before this absurd outlier season doesn't make him the better player.

Let me rephrase: Sanchez is currently not even the most deserving catcher on his team to make the All Star team. Much less be leading the All Star voting.

I think the fans do a better job picking All Stars than the coaches and players do picking Gold Gloves..

I'm not sure Benintendi is a lock.

Other teams might need the last OF spot for that sole team rep, with Eddie Rosario being a good candidate to be there in his place...

I'm not sure Kimbrel is a lock either, unless one is basing this largely on saves, which voting fans are likely to do.

Fans don't get to pick pitchers.

I don't have a whole lot more faith in how managers/coaches make their picks when it comes to things like this.

It’s an exhibition game. Does it matter? And now that there is inter league play, is there any need for this game at all?

There's certainly no need for it. But I assume it makes money and there must be enough fan interest to generate that money.

Myself, I haven't watched an inning of it in decades.

I might check out a minute or two of the home run derby, but more often than not I just don't watch any of the All Star festivities.

After the stupid Bud Selig tie game nonsense, I really soured on the whole spectacle.
