For one thing the Sox med staff probably has some anti-inflammatory coursing through JD's system. He might want to be out there with that. But I would not want him out there with guys throwing 90+ around his head with that.

Not going to turn this into a medical debate about low back pain...but the causes of it include the paragraph below. The most common cause is "idiopathic", ie they don't have a clue why its happening.
"A back spasm can occur after any type of strain or injury to the soft tissues—the muscles, tendons or ligaments—in the spine. Following the general treatment guidelines below and the recommendations from your doctor or physical therapist will go a long way in relieving your pain, and your back muscles should calm down in a week or so.
The muscles can spasm in response to an underlying anatomic problem
If your back spasm does not get better inal problem 1 to 2 weeks, or it comes and goes over time in the same area of your back, you may have an underlying anatomical problem in your spine. Examples of underlying issues that could cause your back to spasm include:
Facet joint osteoarthritis
Degenerative disc disease
Spinal stenosis
Pain from a herniated disc"
Why hasn't Bogaerts joining the aggressive hitting?
I had a severe one this morning and could bearly walk without pain. Breaking the rules, I took a heavy dose of Aleve, went to the softball field, stretched, warmed up and wound up pitching two games and going 4 for 5. Now in a lot less pain than this morning, but not zero pain. I am heading toward 78 years old. If I can do it why can't a professional medical staff find a way to get a player ready to play? We sure could use his bat tonight.
Bradley is getting back into some of his old bad habits.
I still think the Sox LH hitting corp will get its hacks tonight and pull through.
