I am wondering why the team doesn't call Lin up to play 2B?

He is likely not going to continue hitting like that, but he's worth a shot. At the very least, he would be solid defensively.

IMO, he's an upgrade over what Nunez has been giving us. Call him up and phantom DL Nunez.
I've been wondering about that for some time.
It's a mere moment in a man's life between the All-Star game and the Old Timer's game.

Nunez might benefit by having a couple weeks off.

I feel like he's been playing hurt, and maybe some time off can help him get back to close to where he was last summer.

When I watch him, I see a guy that can not stress the leg too much nor can he push off on it. I am willing to bet it is swollen and causing him discomfort at night.

And I agree 100 percent, he needs to go to the dl and we should bring up Lin. Eight weeks or so off now and maybe he is healthy enough for the September race and hopefully playoffs.

Well, you were right that we should have traded him before this injury. That's about it, though.

For the Month of June Lin has been hitting down in Pawtucket. .316
He is starting to surprise me with the bat. He's improved a lot since he was originally signed.

Of course Castillo is hitting .387 for June but he sucks, right? Probably the best Defensive CF in the International League.

Castillo would be more of an option for Boston if:

    1) his contract was not so prohibitive in the wake of the new CBA. Like it or not, this appears to be a reality. And

    2) Dombrowski didn't think Castillo was nothing more than a fourth OF.

If Castillo plays extremely well the whole season, maybe the Red Sox trade JBJ in the offseason and Castillo is the 2019 CF'er. It's a possibility, at least.

I expected to see Nunez and Holt in the OF more this year, even with Pedey on the bench.

I guess trying to make JD happier is a big factor, and with Nunez's knee making him look hobbled, our hands are tied to some extent.

JBJ looks to be the everyday CF'er- sink or swim.

If we traded Swihart and brought up Lin, maybe we could use Holt in the OF more often, but I'm not sue if that is a net gain, unless Lin mashes at 2B.

    How likely is that?

    2018 Innings in the OF

    623 Beni
    572 JBJ
    478 Betts (was on DL)

    257 JMart

    69 Swihart
    53 Holt
    9 Travis

    2B innings:
    470 Nunez
    175 Holt (should be more)
    27 Pedey
    15 Lin

What does his contract have to do with someone actually playing the position and contributing. The contract is fine, but at this stage, it's more like Coach Pedey. He may still be back with some capacity but DD/Cora cannot count on it this year, maybe 2019 and then for 110-120 games. Which is what Nunez was hired for, Hold down April/May, then Pedey can play. As Mike Tyson said, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth !".

It appears that the FO does in fact read Talksox and has followed our advice.

    Lin has been called up!

Not that I agree with you when it comes to Pedroia, but this post cracked me up.

Has to be in response to Bogaerts' finger.
The Yankees could go 0-162 and it wouldn't be enough
