No one will be whining if they beat the other team, regardless of who's on the DL. I would just prefer to beat them when they have their best on the field.
It's kind of the same way I feel about getting to the WS. It would be more enjoyable if we beat the Yankees en route, but I won't be crying if they get eliminated in the wildcard game.
Me too.
Clearly not a good situation. A short rest is not any more likely to cure the shoulder than the last 10 days. They may need to consider a month off with a return in mid September to prep for the playoffs. They do need to know what he can do by end of September. Regrettably it may not be much if the shoulder is going to be rest, one start and rest again . This will put more urgency on getting Erod back on the Fenway mound.
I wonder if this was a result of changing his mechanics to throw harder.
Problem with the Labrum is serious shit.
I think its just another phantom DL. He looked great before and after DL stint and was throwing pretty pretty much 100MPH. I'm pretty sure if it was a serious issue he wouldn't have been throwing that hard. They have a huge lead so they want to keep him fresh for the playoffs
It sounds like they are saving his bullets for October.
It makes more sense for Sale to get extra rest now than in mid-late September.Just like the last time he went on the DL, Chris Sale says that he could be out there pitching if the division race were tighter. Fortunately for him and the Red Sox, it's not even a little bit close, so.

Let's face it, if Chris Sale is dominant in October, the Red Sox should win a championship. With 10 game lead, it is all about getting ready for October baseball.
I guess it is a scheduling coincidence to miss the Yankees twice ? They have seen his stuff before so not hiding anything .
I certainly hope you're right, but at this point they are jeopardizing his Cy Young award. I think he probably cares about that, especially because he's never won one and is a borderline hall of famer and a Cy Young award might push him through to Cooperstown, also good marketing/ratings/etc. for the franchise. Sale may even get a monetary bonus if he wins one.
