Thread: 10/16 ALCS game 3

  1. #31

Boy it would be nice to get a win under our belts in Houston early.
We take game three and all the pressure is on the Astros in game four.
Hoping for another gem from Eovaldi today.

That's how I watch most of the games these days. A good lag free stream is gold!

I was hoping to see Devers and to a lesser extent, Holt, but I'm not complaining.

(I'd also swap JBJ witn Kinsler in the 7 and 9 slots.)

    Not against a LHP I wouldn't.

The 5 start is a little awkward, but it sure offers a lot of time to calm down before sleep--unless god forbid, it go 15 innings.

Yup, Devers is a real weapon, and probably will be throughout the playoffs, but NOT against lefties.

Really need those bats today. Big game. Those game 3s are always huge.

I don't understand why so many people seem to think it's 2-2-1-1-1. Baseball has never used that rotation. They didn't even use it in the 50s when the only travel that was required most of the time was between the Bronx and Brooklyn. This isn't basketball or hockey, which generally isn't played on consecutive days and therefore allows for travel days. It's also why those postseasons last 2 months.

The last time a seven game series didn't use 2-3-2 was during WWII, when war time travel restrictions forced a 3-4 format (was 2-3-2 in 1944 when it was an all St. Louis affair).
The NHL uses the 2-2-1-1-1 PO schedule.

Don't know how this will play in the ALCS, but the Astros were a much better team on the road than at home during the regular season.

No answers from AJ to protecting Bregman. Still has Gurriel behind him. Altuve at DH and 2nd in their order. Hammy too gimpy for 2nd.

Hopefully Eo stays with the plan at least as it relates to Bregman and Breg gets frustrated.

Eovaldi's success against the Yankems was based on his high fastball that the Yankem batters were trying to hit for HR's. Based on swing angle, that favored Eovaldi. The Astros, like the SOX, are not going to be swinging for the fences, which doesn't favor Eovaldi.

The first couple of innings will be huge for him. If we can get an early lead it would be nice.
