    Gena

Lost my German Shepherd to cancer last week.
Nothing prepares you for having to put your companion to
sleep. NOTHING. Not sure if any of you have had to do
this but it puts life in perspective.

I picked her out. Had her since she was 8 weeks.
Taught her commands, you name it.. such a cerebral dog.
It's amazing how much you f*ckin miss so many things that you didn't even think about
before. I have a family, yet the house feels empty. Gone is the jiggling of the collar tag.
I took her collar off at the vet for the final time, got up, as did she
because hey.. my owner is leaving so.. right?

I don't think I could ever have another dog after this. I will never understand
how some people could pick cats over dogs.. especially the smarter breeds.
My Gena was my only true companion no matter what for almost ten years.

    2009-2019 RIP Genaboo

Sorry for the sad post guys.. just feeling ripped apart.

So sorry to hear this. We've had a cat for ten years, we got her from the local shelter, and she's probably 12 or so and already deaf, and we're not thinking of the end, because we know whenever it comes, it's going to be very hard on us.
    Priorities:
    1. Yankees lose
    2. Red Sox win

Lost our dog a year and a half ago. It was my first pet of my life and it really sucked enough to where I don't think I can get another one. I feel you
    Hal sucks

Pet dogs embody of a lot of the things that we consider to be good in other people. Loyal, friendly, forgiving. Unfortunately most humans don't have these traits, which makes it feel difficult to replace such a friend. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. I know the pain and it really, really sucks. I lost my golden retriever to cancer a little over a year ago and it was one of the worst days of my life. I've now lost two dogs to cancer and even after a year I'm still not sure I'm ready for another dog.

Yeah man.. people can really get depressed over this. Gone are all the walks, the greetings at the door, the playfulness, the love and bond. Just.. like.. that. She was family for almost ten years. Ughhh... hurts.

Sorry about your dogs, I’m sure that they were awesome too.

Thank you for all the nice comments.
I don’t visit this board too much in the offseason but we truly have some really terrific people on here.
