Another kid I'm going to keep an eye on this summer, LF 17 year Elio Prado, also plays for DSL Red Sox 2. Looks like that team got some young studs down there at this point. I wonder is this the advanced DSL team, since they have 2, if they do good here, they move them to Lowell quickly. Probably after 100 at bats, maybe 200, not sure. That's the good Prospects.

Looks like Duran is struggling in Portland. But I expected that, since he's reached a level where the talent is equal or better. Now, we get to see what kind of Prospect he really is. Does he adjust, to that level, and improves, or does he keep struggling.
Another thing when a kid moves up, they have a lot of issues to deal with, the move, Rent, new Teammates, a lot of things to deal with. Just like a lot of us when we do something different. Not to mention, he has to focus on his job.

AH I see, DSL 2 is the lower league, and the next step is DSL 1. Average about 250 at bats a season, in both leagues, which is a lot for a kid. Younger the better.

I doubt he would have sustained his super high BAbip in single A, as well.

Give him time at AA. He almost certainly will not reach teh same numbers as single A, but his speed might help him continue to rise up in the system and prospect rankings.

BTW, here are soxprospects.com current rankings (+/- from last ranking):

Remember, Chavis is no longer a prospect, so everyone should have gone up 1.

    1. Casas +2
    2. Dalbec +2
    3. Duran +10
    4. DHern -2
    5. Groome -1
    6. Chatham +2
    7. Houck-2
    8. Flores -1
    9. Mata -1
    10. Feltman -1
    11. Howlett even
    12. Decker even
    13. Shawaryn +2
    14. Scherff +4
    15. DDiaz -1

    Other notable rises and falls:
    ?? M Wilson (unranked > 26)
    ?? K Hart (unranked to 35)
    +28 Fitzgerald (56>28)
    +16 TWard (38>22)
    +15 EBazardo (51>36)
    +9 Ockimey (27>18)
    +8 Crawford (29>21)
    +7 Joan Martinez (36>29)
    +6 J Taylor (31>25)
    +4 Lakins
    -4 DReyes (19>23)
    -5 Castellanos (22>27)
    -6 Netzer (24>30)
    -7 Y Aybar (26>33)

As I predicted, the Red Sox system took a huge step forward this year. Houck and Mata are in the process of developing into top SP prospects. And Groome will hopefully continue that trend when he returns over the summer.

But there have been a few disappointments, including Feltman and D.Hernandez. Maybe if the Red Sox move Hernandez to the minor league bullpen we would see an improvement in his location? The kid has a million dollar arm but he will never make it as a starter unless he improves his location.

Let's see if our ranking rises as much as your view.

Feltman did not take a step back. Look at his gamelog. He had two bad outings.

Yes, and in his last 13.1 IP, he has allows just 8 hits. The 5 BBs is still too high, but with 13 Ks and a WHIP just over 1.0, he's not going backwards.

Huge step forward? Do you ever stop drinking the Kool Aid? The sox system is still ranked dead last with the biggest impact players not even debuting yet as short season has yet to break camp. The guys in your system, outside of Duran, have shown nothing that scouts and prospect followers don't already know
    Hal sucks

Even Duran's rise was on the back of a totally unsustainable BAbip.

IMO, our farm will still be ranked bottom 3 when the mid season rankings come out and at best bottom 5 next winter.

Duran might be an illusion but Casas has shown significant improvement...

Yes, but not enough to bring us out of the bottom 3 or 5 systems in MLB.
