    Arenado sets arbitration record

$26 mil in the final year of arbitration is a record. Betts will surpass it, but clearly the arb process is working better than the FA process for the players. They should push for earlier arbitration
    Hal sucks

That's been my point all along.

The vast majority of players never get that big payday the big FAs get, and in theory, if the big FAs hot less, maybe there'd be more money to spend on mid-range contracts. Make the arb years start earlier for those who never have long enough careers to get even one nice arb salary year. More players get multiple arb year salaries.

Spread the wealth to more players, and you'd think the majority of players would vote for the deal, even if their total piece of the pie doesn't get bigger or much bigger.

About time Colorado held on to someone who is doing well for them.

    - From the 2004 ALCS Game 4 Gamethread. A reminder that no game is over until the final out is recorded, and things will always get better. Misspellings unchanged as a reminder that Yankees fans are just terrible.

The question is will they hold on to him when he reaches free agency next year.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

    It's been a long time...

Helton, 27, became one of baseball's highest-paid players Thursday after signing the fourth-largest contract in sports history -- a nine-year, $141.5 million contract extension with the Colorado Rockies

It is for a guy who can’t hit outside of Denver and can’t field his position...

Odd how Helton's HR totals took a nosedive so soon after the contract, given half his games were played on a rocket launching pad.
    Priorities:
    1. Yankees lose
    2. Red Sox win
