I will be happy if we get home at 5-6. Once we get home, everything will change. Until then, I still believe in this team. More importantly, I still believe in my mojo. It almost pulled one out today.

I griped plenty during the game but right now feel strangely sanguine. Yes, absolutely, the rotation stinks and is a real concern: the Sox have to have close to the worst ERA (27th) in MLB after 4 games and have given up 11 dingers, 2d most in MLB. Fielding: the Sox are 2d in MLB in committing errors and have the 2d worst fielding percentage.

That said, I see some positives. The guys are hitting and rallied 3 times in 4 games, one of which won the game. The bullpen is much better than I expected. And the Yankees--playing at home and against the lowly Orioles--are 1-2, which puts them 1/2 game ahead of the Sox.

Now it's 4 at Oakland with Price, Sale, Eovaldi, and ERod starting.

I said 5-6 before the season for two reasons: west coast against good teams; and a sorry spring training.

Plus, it's impossible to start as well as we did last season. Take the Yankees as an example. They still won 100 games, but they hovered around .500 for most of April. We're fine. It's important to establish now that we just can't be the same team as we were last year. Last year was magical. It wasn't a fluke, but it will be hard to be that good again. We still have a chance to win the WS this year, but there's no way we'll be as dominating in the process.

Well, Cora has gone easy on the Rotation during ST. Probably had to plan on first starts not going swimmingly. Price to the rescue! Maybe...maybe not. We will just have to see what they look like 2nd and 3rd time through the rotation. I am guessing from the 1st starts that the 2nd are not going to be much to write home about either. Looking forward to their 3rd time through.

The starting pitchers are not executing pitches.

Here is a thought, why not bring back Leon?

    The pitchers loved him!

I had the weird thought that maybe the rotation was sending a message they're unhappy about Leon being jettisoned.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

I think they are just still tuning up. If you remember, Cora held them back this ST because of all the extra innings last postseason. They'll be back to normal sooner than later.

The sample size is small, but I do wonder...
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

Devers has look like a different hitter. JDM still destroying pitches.

and JBJ will be JBJ, the spring training sensation is lost.

A fair point--agreed. But I enjoyed the rallies. Plus we had plenty of hard hit balls that were right at someone.

Meh I’m not too worried. That series we were hitting like crazy. I think we are 3rd right now in the first series with our bats. Like I said earlier. Even half decent pitching we win that series. If the boys keep hitting like they have we will be a playoff team this year. Hopefully the rotation figures their shit out. Hope Price comes to play tonight.
