Agreed.
While I do think he is still the Sox best defensive catcher, thinking Sandy Leon is going to fix the rotation is like thinking a severed leg can be treated with a band aid...

This bulletin just in from Pawtucket : (Caution-SSS) Sandy Leon is hitting .133 ; OPS .321 with 2 singles in 15 SB's. Juan Centeno in very limited action is 4 for 6 , all singles. So nothing much to indicate a turnaround by millionaire Leon.
FWIW, (not much) Bryce Brentz is also 1 for 12 putting little pressure on Beni or Betts to get hot. On the other hand Mike Miller at SS is cranking up the volume at 7 for 18 (.389), with 2 doubles and a HR. What's that you say, we just signed a SS to a long extension ? Oh well another flameout at the AAA level. Honestly, a young developing prospect at Pawtucket has got to be discouraged when they look at the MLB team openings. I don't think Tzu Wei Lin will be the long term answer at second, and Sam Travis has not shown any breakthrough ability at first. Be nice to get a starting pitcher , Mike Sharwyn is 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA over 11 innings and a 1.06 WHIP
Even if Brentz was 16 for 16 with 16 HRs, I don’t think it effects Betts or Benintendi one bit...
I don’t think 29yo Mike Miller and his career minor league .668 OPS was ever a threat to supplant Xander Bogaerts.
Lin is a utility infielder at best and Travis is a replacement level player who gets the call only when someone hits the IL so he can, well, replace them temporarily. His future will include a DFA at some point...
Some seem to.
I keep hearing how others have higher offensive "potential," but I;m not sure any of our catchers will ever duplicate Leon's 2017 season of an .845 OPS.
Potential is one thing, but actually doing it is another.
(Note: I like Swihart and Vaz's bat better, but I'm with MVP. I don't care about catcher hitting.)
When you say it's gonna happen now
When exactly do you mean?
