If Porcello is to pricey, and MLBTR predicts an $11mill AAV (which is their primary concern), I doubt the Red Sox bring him back. They might find cheaper alternatives in pitchers like Wade Miley, Alex Wood, Rich Hill, Tanner Roark and Ivan Nova.
The two I would be reticent about are Hill and Wood. The Sox big problem this year could easily be the health of the rotation. If it is, Wood and Hill both have histories suggesting they are more likely to be part of the problem than part of the solution...
