    Aristides Aquino

Complete non-prospect with a .760 OPS in the minors who was unranked by every scouting organization, and he gave them no reason to rank him.

But in MLB, he is on an absolute tear. He homered again tonight, giving him 7 in his last 6 games. His OPS in the previous 5 games was 2.098. As he just had the one home run tonight, it might come down a bit.

The MLB ballpark effect. Lights are better and the ball looks ginormous the first fortnight in the show.

And yet this type of performance isn’t common, even for elite prospects (who aren’t rookies for the Rockies)...

Even if he flames out he'll always have one of the coolest MLB names.

His nickname is the punisher. He crushes balls. He is an exit velo freak. He's a Voit-type player with skills beyond his minor league performance. If he can make contact, he will be a good player in the majors

He’s already making them forget about Yasiel Somethingorother...

8 homers in his first 11 games.

Rob Manfred is thinking: 'Hey, this might be the guy who breaks Barry Bonds's vaunted record for home runs in a season next year...maybe we should tweak those baseballs just a little more to make sure.'
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

Once the baseball makes contact with the bat it will activate little propellers on the ball

You can put one of those model rocket engines inside it and make it even more fun to watch...

The funny thing is, if Aquino can keep up that pace for the rest of this year, he would hit 40 home runs in 55 games. That's almost 120 over a full season....

    That's not funny at all.

Actually it appears the big change he made was going from an open stance to a very closed one...

14 home runs in 28 games and 92 at bats.

If a fire is burning insanely hot compared to others, that fire is now said to be as hot as Aristides Aquino...

We’ve seen this before (to some degree). The rocket ball has made this record setting, but we’ve seen AAAA players finding it on promotion only to sink back the following year
