Before Thursday's game FanGraphs gave the Red Sox a 45.2 percent chance of advancing to the postseason:

... while after the game FiveThirtyEight listed the Red Sox postseason chances at 26 percent:

I’m throwing in the towel.. officially. Just zero pitching from this club. Dombrowski was keen on it. What’s the point in giving up prospects in order to get an arm or two for the pen this season? Bunch of veteran pitchers who can’t get it done. It’s only a matter of time until the “next year” commentary starts to surface. This team has quite a bit of work to do to get itself right. I wouldn’t mind seeing LeVangie canned soon.

Okay, I’ll play. Red Sox will start the playoffs in about 425 days.
The Yankees could go 0-162 and it wouldn't be enough

Place Porcello, Moreland, Pearce, Price & JD on waivers and pray someone claims one and takes them off our hands (and budget).

Might not be the worst idea, although Moreland is the only one who has a prayer of being claimed since his contract is up. Pearce is hurt and the rest have too many years left.

Porcello’s contract is also up. And JD can opt out...

With no August deadline, will that be a thing this year?

There are no trade waivers anymore. You’re either waived or not. No pulling them back

3.5 behind the Rays, 3 behind Oakland, for last Wild Car spot. 3 games behind in the loss column to both teams. Sox have to go 31-21 to reach 90 wins, rest of the way. Doable, but very hard, with this team. Need to reach 90 wins at a minimum, and hope other 2 teams struggle. Since your only playing Tampa once more, for 4 games. Score board watching now, providing you win, or winning games.

    Doable, absolutely.

But like most people, I’m it seeing it from this team...

Not by that buncha' slugs in red hose we saw last night. Let them crawl into the last AL spot and get bounced out in the ALDS if they want to. However, they don't deserve to make it and if there are not 5 more deserving teams in the AL, then that is yet another indicator of what a mess MLB is today.

Last Wild Card spot always comes down to last week. Their is never 5 dominant teams, in either League. Giants are 55-54 and only 2.5 behind last Wild Card spot.
Sox need to get hot, and cannot lose series anymore. Need to take 3 from Yanks to stay in race. Split does nothing but take more games off schedule, and lose precious games now. Unless you get lucky and Tampa and Oakland lose too. Luck is starting to become involved a lot more, now. Less games, More Luck.
E-Rod, Sale, Johnson, and Price this weekend. Supposedly your 3 of your 5 best Starters go this weekend.
This series will tell you a lot. Do you have what it takes, or you don't.

The fact that we have to depend on Johnson in Yankee stadium is a scary thought!
