    What's the big deal?

You use whatever you can to market these days, inside the law of course.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

hahahaha. your such a D. why is that a "bad, bad look"??? it's good to see a MLB team embracing the younger culture. we need to be all over "influencers" to promote MLB (and in this case the Boston Red Sox).
    todays challenge:
talk to any 9-12 year old. male/female/binary. i GUARANTEE you they can name a bunch of tiktok/IG/youtube "influencers". these same kids might...might...be able to name a couple MLB players.

I think it's a dumb idea, but not a bad look. The Red Sox having to go that way for marketing shows to me that there is a legitimate concern about the popularity of the Sox going forward.

    Oh no! Marketing!

In a social media world, they'd be fools not to. Do you think the Yankees don't do similar things?!

It's not like John Henry is on Youtube with a puppy saying "Buy Red Sox tickets or I will do a Facebook Live where I drown little Happy here!! So do you want tickets or do you hate Happy?"

If Henry keeps on following in the footsteps of "Mini-Mike," this franchise is doomed.

There is a very legitimate concern about the popularity of baseball going forward. The Sox have managed to stem the tide here in Boston through a variety of means which may just be running out of gas in the face of the shrinking popularity of MLB generally. I have no idea what MLB generally or any specific franchise will do once my generation really starts pushing up daisies in earnest. Frankly IMO what MLB thinks is worth pursuing directionally within the game itself in the form of Rob "the idiot" Manfred is not the direction they should be taking and will simply fail....IS in fact failing.

Red Sox marketing does not belong in the 20th century. It's a simple, prudent business decision.

Things could be worse. In a five-day sale announced Tuesday, the Seattle Mariners slashed some ticket prices in half for their Season Opener on March 26.

    Reeled me in.

I think it shows that the blow back on ticket sales is bigger than they anticipated.
