Unwatchable. This team quit right after the trading deadline. Mookie inferred in his comments that the team wasn't happy about the lack of activity at the trading deadline.

Oh I will watch. We already have too many "fans" that don't watch the games and then can claim "well I didn't see that. Must not have happened." My form of fandom does not include deluding myself into thinking this team did not dog its way through the entire season.

Was it a tough row to hoe? YES. Was the schedule unfavorable? YES. Was LONDON absurd? YES. Did their manager literally hand them all personalized crutches to lean on all season long. YES. Was exec management oblivious to what they had down in that clubhouse? YES.

For clarity sake in the world I come from, there is a difference between an Exec Management team that is unmoved and one that is oblivious.

Does that mean the players had the right to swoon before our very eyes and die like dogs? NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How I wish I could say there was not gobs and gobs of historical context for a September Swooning Sox team. But that would again be deluding myself.

I count 11 posters and with this one 110 posts and 800 views in the GT from an August high of 343 posts and 3,469 views and a July high of 573 posts and 3,561 views and a June high of 642/7,528. May's high was 336/3043. I would bet the ratings on this game are going to be piss.

As I have often said, we forum posters, don't make a sports entertainment market....not even close. But we do provide a sample over time and the relative ups and downs in GT's are probably a near accurate reflection of what is happening out there for numbers in the market in general.

    But as for watching.....not many.

Just for completeness, the low GT post/view numbers for each month:
    Sept to date: 84/781
    Aug: 33/439
    July: 133/1306
    June: 141/1414
    May: 42/593

I'm not at all sure that's a fair indication of who's watching. Speaking for myself, I find the continual repetition of "these guys suck", "Cora sucks", and of course the Yankees non-troll chiming in occasionally to remind us of exactly how bad the Sox are playing to be something I don't want to deal with AND watching the team lose. And I don't think I'm the only one.

Of course the downside is that this is a self-perpetuating issue in that the fewer posters there are in the game thread the less reasonable discussion that takes place so more posters stay away, and so ad infinitum.

I usually drop by to see what's going on for chatter in the GT's and I've even gotten into some good conversations there but I don't have the patience to deal with the negativity. Consequently where I used to spend much of the game on the GT I now don't. But that doesn't mean I'm not watching the game.
It's a mere moment in a man's life between the All-Star game and the Old Timer's game.

    Well said Dewey.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

Then lets ignore the actual ratings. We could just go there. Does that make it easier for you guys?

Do you want to do what.....ignore that I also mentioned the actual ratings? Give me a break.
