Optimism seems to be in short supply around here right now. :-(
It's a mere moment in a man's life between the All-Star game and the Old Timer's game.

Weber is a mystery. The first time I saw him pitch, mosr of his arm angle pitches came at a 30-49 degree arm anggle. He was hittimg glove. He mixrd that with occassional over the top pitches. The niext time h looked like a different pitcher. The stint after that was even worse.

I have no idea where Cora got this pitching coach, but I hope we see a real one next year, Never in the history of baseball have we seen a pitching staff go to hell like this one has.

It can’t hurt to give Chacin a shot next spring.

With all due respect, I think almost every player that makes the bigs looks good for short periods of time. If we happen to just watch for that short sample size, it's easy to get an inflated opinion on the guy.

It's better to withhold definitive statements until sample sizes are large enough to have a better idea of the true nature of a given player's talent level. That does not mean we can't get our hopes up every time someone looks good for a couple games, but when those numbers are at odds with the player's minor league history, we should be more cautious with our enthusiasm.

Chacin has looked pretty good, but let's see how he looks after a few more starts and IP'd.

Were are looking for some low cost pitching for next season and at least he has shown possibility. Johnson and Velazquez have not.
