It works the same way for stupid."
Now down 3-1 to the Astros , and facing Verlander, our contributor from NY gets a chance to see how his well constructed team fares in a gut check game. The result could be fun to watch, if a Yankee failure concludes their season.
Nervous?
If not for my vested interest in watching an 86 year drought end, it was actually probably the most lopsided World Series in history. Not only did the Sox never trail at any point in the World Series, there was only one inning that ended with the two teams tied, and that was the 6th inning of game 1 before the Sox took a lead they would truly never relinquish the following inning. The Sox jumped out to a lead in the first inning of all four games.
I was nervous with anticipation, but that was a series I never really felt was in doubt...
Call it paranoia, I guess. But the Red Sox were a team that taught me that it really ain't over till it's over.
We had a 3-0 lead in Game 7 of the '75 Series.
We had a 2-0 lead in the 7th inning of the '78 playoff game.
We had a 3-2 lead in games and a 5-3 lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the 10th inning of Game 6 in the '86 Series.
We had a 5-2 lead in the 8th inning of Game 7 of the '03 ALCS.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1
The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.
When ppl ask if I watch porn I say yes and refer to this series.
Legit this was onew of the biggest reasons I became a fan. I was 16 (I think) at the time and just starting to really like baseball, this series changed my life and I was hooked after. I'll never forget that moment.
