If the Nats can go 2/3 of an inning without giving up 5 runs, the road team takes the first 6 games.

It was a first in any sport at 5 games...

While Trout is the undisputed best player in MLB and Mookie is a very common choice for second best, one thing we are seeing is that Bregman and Rendon are very likely 3rd and 4th on that list, in whatever order you like...

He’s pitched pretty well both games this series, not his best but decently enough. He’s given Houston a good chance in both games but Strasburg has outpitched him both times. The Astro’s pen imploding in both of Verlander’s starts makes the game results look a lot worse than how he pitched.
The Yankees could go 0-162 and it wouldn't be enough

It certainly did not look like it was going to be his night during that first inning. The Astros hit 4 balls off him. One home run, one screaming line drive off the wall for a double, and the other two on to the warning track. And the flyout by Gurriel had the distance to be a home run, but he happened to hit it just to the right of where the stands jut out a little. Had that ball been pulled maybe 10 more feet to the left, it was a home run...

Ya it's sad to see. One of the best to ever play the game but nerves seem to get the best of him..... He has been here before you would think he would be calm and cool.

Yeah, who would have thought Bregman's bomb would be the final scoring for the Stros. It's a crazy freaking game.

Yup exactly, also he was good enough but to Verlanders standards... It isn't very good at all. Not going past 5, giving up 3 runs. Sure his team still had a chance but it was just an average performance in my opinion.

As notin has suggested, what seems to be chocking by Verlander may actually be fatigue...

Maybe the Stros should have managed his innings a bit more this year.

He did throw 223 IP in the regular season. There's a good chance he gets simply worn down after all that pitching, which does take a toll.

Price was finally great in the post-season last year, and maybe it was because he finally got there is a season where he only threw 107 IP as opposed to pitching at least 176 IP in all his other seasons (except his rookie year of 2008, but he also pitched well in that post-season).

Some of these teams with legitimate post-season aspirations might be better off dialing back the workloads of their ace pitchers a little and investing in Porcello type to eat more regular season innings before going to the bullpen in the post-season...
