In news that should surprise no one

Cashner, Chacin, Holt, Moreland, Pearce and Porcello all elected to become free agents today.
The Yankees could go 0-162 and it wouldn't be enough

We missed him a lot, when he was here and on the DL or being platooned.

Mitch on DL > Ockimey on the 25 man roster

Ockimey+ cheap platoon pard>>> $6.5M x 2 years of Mitch spending nearly half his time on the bench or DL.

The money saved might help us sign a real 2Bman or RP'er.

The Sox don’t need infielders. A starter, a reliever or two, a backup catcher and probably at least one outfielder...

We can use a lot of things, but yes, 2B is not near the top of the list.

I'm not really worried about back-up catcher, in terms of cost in money or trade.

SP & RP are clearly at the top along with an OF'er to replace JBJ. 2B, 1B and even more pitching could be useful.

Backup catcher isn’t a dire need, but maybe changing up from Sandy Leon is...

Will miss Holt, but he priced himself out of Boston. You can’t pay him what he is going to get unless he is your everyday second baseman. He isn’t a starting 2B. You have cheaper options with Hernández and Chavis. Moreland had his moments, but I think Sox will give Dalbec a chance. Porcello gives you innings, but I can’t see beating the top teams any more. All are probably gone because of the soft 208 mandate.

If we trade/non tender/opt out JBJ, Betts & JD, there's plenty of budget space for a guy like Holt.
