This an editorial by the Lowell Sun so it represents the opinion of the editor. It mentions that Boston sports radio has discussed it as well. While the Sun may not the circulation of the Globe, Boston sports radio does. This could get interesting if the story gets any traction especially if any other behavioral or judgment issues arise.
That's, uh...not what the story you linked says.
As I understand it, Verdugo filmed the two drunk girls beating up the other drunk girl...obviously not good.
But I have yet to find anything saying he was present during or in any way involved in the sexual assault. The way the media has reported this story has caused a lot of confusion, though.
I think you and I have different views of what constitutes (or can be excused as being) a "dumb decision"! I'm sure we both made plenty of those. I'm also pretty sure neither of us was ever in a room, drunk or passed out, where an underage kid was being beaten up then later sexually assaulted by our buddies. Another remarkable and jaw-dropping detail in this story is the way Dodger "fixers" determined that the way to handle it was to invite the girl to dinner with the players involved.
Fuck Mookie!
