Yeah, like 'coach's decision' on Malcolm Butler not playing in SB. That really put that to rest!

You can not blame the media for being the media. Besides the Red Sox did not become the brand that has become without publicity.

dammit. that one is my hot button. i will never forgive him for that one. but the point remains...we still havent received an answer from ANYONE on that one. not from the player, not from the owner, the HC, or any of the other coaching staff. it is still all just guesses and the question doesnt even get asked anymore.....

    That's true.

The fans are the ones who have the option of whether to be reasonable or not.

He works for the paper owned by Henry. This wasn't an accident.

So? That has nothing to do with how Henry directly treated his ticket holders.

Malcolm has kinda sucked since leaving the Pats.

How's he supposed to treat the ticket holders exactly?

Don't say "we're cutting payroll" and then right before ticket sales begin state "I didn't really mean that, it's not our intention to cut payroll, we're going to compete."

That doesn't sound shitty to you?

He didn't say it exactly that way.

When he said we're cutting payroll in September, that was probably the most honest statement. And he got ridiculed for it, because supposedly it put the team at a serious disadvantage in negotiations.

Subsequent statements were all pretty ambiguous. The message, as such, was that the primarily goal wasn't cutting payroll but being competitive. And they tried to explain that the competitive part included the future.

It was a mess, I'm not denying that. I just don't think any particular approach would have gone over well. Red Sox fans in general don't like cutting payroll or trading a Mookie Betts no matter how you dress it up.
