Maybe stand up for Jacko?
@JonHeyman
Spring training games in Florida and Arizona are expected to be suspended.
@JeffPassan
After a conference call among owners this afternoon, Major League Baseball is expected to suspend spring training. The league likely will delay the beginning of the regular season as well. At this point, it's a formality that ownership-level sources expect to happen.
@JeffPassan
For anyone questioning MLB's potentially suspending spring training, I'll refer to David Price as he walked into the Dodgers' facility about an hour ago: "It's gotta happen. This is so much bigger than sports. I've got two kids."
That feeling is shared by many, many in the game.

Major League Baseball has decided to “suspend baseball operations indefinitely” in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. That means it will suspend spring training, effective tomorrow, and will almost certainly delay to the start of the 2020 regular season. The decision was made on a conference call which concluded moments ago. An official announcement is expected to come shortly.
SOMEBODY OWES JACKO AN APOLOGY.
@Joelsherman1
The suspension of spring training is to begin tomorrow.
The expectation now is that the start of the regular season will be delayed as well. MLB will be making a statement today on this.
In an hour there is a conference call with Rob Manfred and the 30 owners. MLB will make an official announcement afterward.
I guess it was kind of a pipe dream to think professional sports could proceed by just emptying the arenas and ball parks. I mean were the players supposed to be invincible? or exist in a sealed off reality?
Oh well, we do have the NFL free agency and draft which do not require actual players or games.
Care to rephrase?
Guys, once a player in a major sport got this disease, the game changed. ID specialists are anticipating HALF of all Americans will get it. 20% of all infected get hospitalized. 2-3% die. 5% end up needing ICU level care. You cannot have breeding grounds in locker rooms continue to be full of players. All the league would need is a single player to die and they would end up on the wrong side of a law suit that could destroy the sport. This is the right call epidemiologically, personally, and legally
Hal sucks
Great opportunity for Chris Sale to get TJ surgery.
