    Cleveland What’s?

Much like the Redskins, the Cleveland Indians are considering a name change. What are some thoughts on a new name for an MLB franchise that represents the city of Cleveland?

Their minor league hockey team used to go by the Lake Erie Monsters, which was an incredible name. But they changed it to Cleveland Monsters, which just made it lame. It also hurts that the Angels just wasted one of the best monikers ever - Trash Pandas - on a minor league franchise.

Any thoughts on a new name for a Cleveland MLB franchise?

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

Nope, that was the name of an Indian group wiped out by the Iroquois in the mid 1600s.

Wasn't there a NL team in Cleveland late in the 19th century called the Spiders?
The Yankees could go 0-162 and it wouldn't be enough

I think they might as well change them all and get it over with, rather than drag out the process.

But then where does it end? Chiefs and Braves would presumably be next, and then you can start to go crazy with it. For example, the original Patriots during the Revolutionary War were all white, so does the name Patriots promote white supremacy?

    That's as non-political as I can be

Many towns or areas are named after various Indian tribes . This is intended as a compliment , not at all derogatory . The Florida State football team is nicknamed " Seminoles " , without any complaint from the Seminole tribe in Florida. Certainly , " Redskins " can be offensive and should be changed , but is there really a need to change everything ?

Within the last couple years, my high school recently had to change Sachems. I don't think that is a derogatory term either

"Lakers" (short for mistake on the lake)

    I like "Rockers" best.

Washington should just change their name to foreskins, so we can still call them the skins.

The Indians had their name changed from the Naps, to Indians to honor Alex Sockalexis the first Indian (I dont think Indian is derogatory) Native American to play in the majors (he was from my state of Maine)
