The Diamondbacks ranked 17th in catcher fWAR this year with a wRC+ of 66:

The Red Sox should be all over that. The Diamondbacks should not, as they have more years of control with Carson Kelly and one of their top prospects is another catcher in Daulton Varsho...

Good points. I am a fan of Carson Kelly, a local product (to me).

    I'd say, no.

If he ends up doing well, it's a good "problem" to have. I'd hold some money in reserve for the summer, and give Arroyo, Munoz, Chavis, Arauz and Chatham a shot at proving they can be a net plus at 2B. If not, and we're in the race, then we trade for a 2Bman.

Or, we sign a 2B/4th OF/CF type player for not too much dough.

    It does seem that way.

Even the Manny deal, which has to viewed as a win, ended pretty badly. (I know, that was over a decade ago.)

Here are our biggest contracts from 2001>
    $217/7 Price
    $160/8 Manny
    $154/7 AGon
    $145/5 Sale
    $142/7 Crawford
    $120/8 Bogaerts (opt out)
    $110/8 Pedroia
    $110/5 JD Martinez
    $95M/5 Sandoval
    $88M/4 H Ramirez
    $83M/5 Lackey
    $82M/4 Porcello
    $73M/7 R Castillo
    $70M/5 JD Drew
    $68M/4 Eovaldi
    $68M/4 Beckett
    $52M/4 Ortiz
    $52M/6 Dice-K
    $42M/4 Kimbrel

    2007>
    $41M/4 Youkilis
    $39M/3 Victorino
    $38M/3 Lowell
    $36M/4 Lugo
    $32M/2 Napoli

(I might have missed a couple.)

You have to be a teacher Mr .Moon. Only players I’m pulling to get are two position players and one pitcher .I still want Puig in Boston flame away folks and I’d like to take a flier on Scooter Genette .The pitcher is who everyone wants starts with a B and has a lot of smarts and attitude !!!! I want to keep Vaz Devers Verdugo as our Core but am not convinced Mr Devers shouldn’t be Moved now because of his one Dimensional nature .So that’s all from me and I trust Bloom to get Cora back and with some luck Alex may fix Raffy .

We need solid answers not hopes and prayers.

The Manny deal was a colossal success. In the big picture, that bad ending was a blip.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

Hope is never a good strategy.

I think hang’em Chaim is executing his plan. I remain cautiously optimistic about this offseason.

Every signing and trade involves hopes, such as good health.

I feel very optimistic about this winter. Bloom da man!
