But maybe it was because the Rays just went a little overboard with actually trying to win some regular season games? Maybe it had nothing to do with how Morton was actually pitching!

Snell didn't pitch 6 innings in any game either. However, Morton's declining metrics leave me to believe he won't be a 6 fWAR pitcher this year.
Or maybe it was becausde it was only 38 innings, and after almost no ST games...

    I don't believe Morton is worth 15M.
I thought $15 was high, too, for these times, but 1 year, low-risk deals are often higher.
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

I'm leaning towards "he's not that good anymore."

There's no chance in hell he's getting 6 fWAR in 2021 either.

Maybe Mort's postseason resume got a few contenders to bid up -- compared to the rest of the $8-11 Mil signings so far. Or maybe the Braves, sensing they're very close to a title, just pulled a Dombro targeting their guys and getting it done while other clubs are still assessing the market (and vaccine progress, and how that might affect budgets).

But I agree that Old Uncle Charlie isn't worth almost twice as much as way-under 30 ERod -- if the latter's indeed 100%...

Assuming the costs of Bauer and Snell are non-starters (so punny), how high will Bloom go for, say, Odorizzi? Maybe a better question is how much of a paycut will Jake settle for? He ain't gettin no 17.8 this winter... unless it's a two-year deal.

MLB Trade Rumors says 3/39. They also said 1/8 for Morton.

Who the fuck knows at this point?

My guess is there will be some decent, but maybe not great, players available near the end of the off season that will be great bargains.

    Watch Bloom wait and swoop.

Will any of them be pitchers though?
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

    Yes.

but bear in mind "bargains" does not always mean "difference makers"...

They may, however, later be used in deadline trades to net us more prospects.

So pretty much like the "bargains" Chaim scooped up for 2020 then.

If so, mlb.tv won't seem like a bargain in 2021.

I think a better quality "bargains" will be available late this winter- better than Perez & Plawecki.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to count on it. Every team needs pitching.
