Thread: White Sox sign Liam Hendriks

    White Sox sign Liam Hendriks

Very, very strange contract. 4 years $54 mil. First 3 years are 3-$39 mil. Final year is a $15 mil option with a $15 mil buyout. If the White Sox go the buyout route, Hendriks gets the $15 mil deferred in future payments. Never seen a contract where the only benefit to the option being exercised for the player is not the amount of money, but when they’d receive it
    Hal sucks

MLBTR is calling it a 3 year/54 million contract. But with the deferred money I assume the AAV will be lower than 18 mill.

    Surprising to say the least.

Happiest person with this contract - Brad Hand

Unhappiest - everyone who passed on him for 1 year at $10 mill....

When a journeyman reliever with 3 good years under his belt at age 31 gets that kind of contract...

Maybe small sample sizes do impress some GMs, although his last 110 innings may be kind of a large sample size for a RP'er from 2019-2020. (Only Beeks had more RP IP than Hendricks.) Going more than 1 IP has a lot of value.

    0.897 WHIP
    1.79 ERA (38 ERA-)
    1.70 FIP (2.89 xFIP)

    6.7 K/BB

    RP WAR 2019-2020
    5.2 Hendricks
    3.4 Yates
    3.0 Anderson
    2.7 Rogers
    2.6 Hand, Hader
    2.5 Lugo
    2.4 Chapman
    2.3 R Iglesias

    When exactly do you mean?

... it might make Cleveland rethink the whole "Brad Hand/option" thingy...

Should make the Sox rethink not grabbing him then.
