Good question. Somebody there liked him, I guess.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

It looks like the Sox have replaced Benintendi with Christian Arroyo…

My statement was in response to this:

"Josh Winckowski with 0 walks, 9 strikeouts and 15 swing and misses yesterday.

    YTD: 45.2 IP, 3.35 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 4 HR, 44 K, 12 BB, 50% GB"

I like the return we got, and maybe Winckowski turns out to be the best part of the trade.

It wouldn't surprise me, if KC ends up trading Beni at some point.

Benintendi is ripping the cover off the ball. At the time, I said that they sold low on him. And now, it can’t be disputed. The guy is not a superstar, but his talent puts him at the level just below. He will make the All Star team this year and last year he won the GG. But we saved a couple of million. This goes on the negative side of Bloom’s ledger, and I predict that his bringing back Bradley will also goon the negative side.

One could argue the money saved was obviously used to sign Renfroe, but one could argue Marwin, instead.

Who had the better year last year, Beni or Renfroe?

High average and OBP, he only has 3 XBH though. His hard hit % is bottom 30% in the league. He's just reduced his k rate and gotten a little lucky (406 BABIP).

What does that have to do with the Red Sox worrying about a couple million dollars?

With Verdugo, Kike and Renfroe, where were you going to play Beni last year?

They sold low. That’s the point. Very low.
